42. Yes THAT one. There will be more of these.

Perhaps the meaning of life is pondering what it is. I say that life is development, it's perfection. If we reach the impossible and everything is invented and already made. We have nothing to work towards to. So, might as well kick the bucket, we are done...
Hmmm I see, that makes a lot of sense
Yes, it's why I get angry when someone says that 'everything is already done before. Nothing is original anymore.' I hate this statement. It's lazy and non-productive. Of course there won't be anything new IF WE THINK IT WON'T!

Buddha gained enlightenment by meditating and gaining all the knowlegde from his past lives. So he died and went to heaven to be a god or whatnot. So if we all knew everything, we wouldn't be strifing for knowledge or life itself. All the pleasures in life would come easy, so the hard work doesn't give much effort, you know you've done it right.

If everything is already done before. There will not be someone who says otherwise. The world wouldn't need that person.
If world peace came. There won't be any fighters. Nor would there be people who fight for peace.
If all was perfect, there wouldn't be perfectionists.
If everyone was free, there wouldn't be freedom fighters.

We are not there yet. But if we were... We popped our clogs...
Without Dark there is no Light
No Yin without Yang. No man without woman. No sound of a falling tree... without someone to listen at it.

Keeping Christ's commandments.

1.) Love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.

2.) Love your neighbor as yourself.

Searching for meaning in life is like looking for meaning in the digits in Pi. As a scientific exercise it is pointless and as a religious exercise you are better of looking to your local religion for the sake of your sanity. It's only human to search for meaning when there isn't any but to find purpose and contentment in your own life you have learn how to live well as a human.
I find this to also be a pretty valid point. As a species, we do seem to try and find importance in everything we do. We save the whales! Why? Because it gives us meaning! We practice religion on the hope that there is life after death.

If all of a sudden we just stopped searching for meaning; should that be something futile like attempting to stop a species becoming extinct or something spiritual like praying to a god, well we mind as well flush our race down the pan. As soon as we stop searching for meaning, we lose the motivation to live.

Yes, the meaning of life is to live.
I mean, if you died, there wouldn't be a point to life, would there?

Once again, my flawless logic kicks ass.
Very true, but think deeper. If you died, there'd not only be no point in life, if you died, there'd be no life at all, for your reality and therefore life itself would become non-existent.
That means you ARE the meaning of life...hm...wait... I mean I am the meaning of life, because you are just a small part of my reality.

Now I'm confused.

Should this be true, then a good percentage of the population are not living?

Just noticed a cruel typo on my part.... Daaamn!

To subject with a bit more seriousness:
You fall in love , have sex , make children , lose your soul , live a couple more years and lose your physical form.
That is about it!

There isn't one. As soon as one dies, the meaning of life ceases to be a factor, which means all of our efforts are for naught, there is no grand scheme. However, if one was to say that the meaning of life was to live life in such a way that you would reach your higher power/God whatever in heaven/paradise etc, we would then look for meaning in that secondary existance. As that existance is infinite and/or eternal, whatever meaning we came up with would make no sense, as time would keep on going and going, with no "goal" or grand scheme in sight, this is enforced by the fact that humans can't comprehend eternity/infinity.

This begs the question, in that secondary existance, would we be human? If not, would we be able to comprehend eternity/infinity and the meaning of our existance in that second form, and if so, are we not just as powerful as our deity then? Seeing through the infinite space of time, knowing the so called "meaning" of life/existance and knowing what would happen?

I'll let you think about that for a few minutes...

Avoiding the biological answer of continuing the species, there isn't one. It's one of the three overriding reasons as to why religion exists.

Give your ideas being serious philosophy or just a joke, I don't care. What is the meaning of life, but I must ask no Hitch hiker's Guide to the Galaxy References, we know the joke, 42.

My idea is just to have fun and seek wisdom, thats my idea
To fuck, drink and fight as much as possible. Can't resist human nature or nature in general except for the drinking part.
I shouldn't laugh, I just shouldn't but I am

I should think not, anyone with a beating heart is living. The meaning of life should certainly be something more general, it should apply to everyone, not just those who hold certain beliefs. Would it not negate the teachings that everyone is equal?

Since I think that philosophy is useless about 90% of the time I'm just going to say to live as free as you can and have a good time.

So you're not living until you appease the arrogance of a supposed superior being? An interesting theory.
