other than to have sex ... just do what you want! thats what cave men were able to do but then we became civilized and had rules, which totally blows because instead of doing absolutely anything your heart desires your mind prevents you from doing so because of society has tought you well or sumthin idk i see that whenever i want to do something i usually end up not doing it because i think of the concequences that the comunity will inflict on me later

Well, there's a ton of ideas as to what it is, all of them wrong, and all of them right. Make up something after you hear what others have to say and keep it close, because it will be unique to you. My meaning is basically something my dad told me a few years ago.. Nearly word for word.

"We avoid risks in life so we can make it safely to death? That's just silly. If you sit and 'be safe', you'll waste your life away. Go crazy, but don't do anything I wouldn't do. Try to live life the way it was meant to be lived; pedal to the metal, shoulder to the wheel, knuckles white, but keep your seat belt on and try not to ram into other cars. I don't care if you do, but I'm not paying for damages".

He's still right. Wake up, coffee, shower, go to work, eat, continue work, come home, eat, watch TV, waste time on the internet, realize its very late, go to sleep for 4 hours, wake up, coffee, shower.... Doesn't sound fun, does it? Even little things spice it up, like going over to someone's house for a drink or to watch the game. Try to live life the way it was meant to be; pedal to the metal, shoulder to the wheel, and knuckles white on the wheel. Don't waste it working... but keep your seat belt on. :p

Instinct and emotion gives our lives meaning or, at least, the illusion of meaning.

Consider having no instinct or emotion. No feeding drive, no sex drive, no love or hate, no desire etc. Would you get up in the morning? Would you have children? Would you even bother to eat?

There is no purely logical reason to do anything that we do. It is all driven by our irrational, emotional, sides. Even when we do something strictly logical like mathematics or physics we then take what we discover and apply it to satisfying our desires which are, again, emotional or instinctual in nature.

Life may have some intrinsic meaning but it is my opinion that there would have to be a god of some sort to prescribe it in my opinion because with my limited scope of though I cannot imagine where else it may come from.

Of course, what the hell do I know about any of it?

Well you see the meaning of Life is one of two things:
A board game where you spin a wheel that simulates a really awful life.
A ceral that gets soggy WAY to fast and is good if you eat it before that happens.

For Real: Again its just to have some fun. Why is my philosophy so wrong? Everyone is over thinking it. (Or to write in fun colors :D)(Which is fun to me)

you create your own meaning to life, and it can change as you do. for example, the meaning of my life right now is to have more starcraft time. but in a few weeks, it'll be something school related.

The meaning of life is to die, because the funny thing about life is you never get out alive.

I honestly believe that life has no true meaning besides living a comfortable existance, and surviving as best you can.

Forty tw- Dammit, beaten to it.
Pretty much to do something. Nothing more then exist.
Do what you do, be who you be.
Oh, and don;t be a tool.
It doesn't have to do with the "Meaning of life" thing, but still, don;t be a tool.

42. You said not to say it. Other people already said it. Let me explain why I said it.

In the second book they found that the supposed question might be "What do you get when you multiply six by nine" The answer being 42, one could deduce that the Universe just doesn't "add up." (He he, you see what I did there?) I kind of like this answer. To me it means that thinking about it isn't really that important. Even if you did find it it doesn't change anything.

Knowing this I find it is much more progressive for humanity to work on overcoming "real" obstacles. Like space travel or computer limitations.
