I agree with Super Meat Boy. That game had me hooked for 130 hours, and I still can't beat the Cotton Alley. You think Omega is hard? Try XOXO. That shit is almost funny. Almost.

I heard Dark Souls is really hard, but I have no idea what the hardest bit is. Maybe that Capra Demon fellow boss fight I saw in Northernlion's Let's Play.

Dark Souls for me.
It was my GOTY, every time I died I just wanted to get back straight to whooping ass.. and getting my own ass whooped.

Probably morrowind. I actually had to use cheats to have regenerating health (that made me close, but not quite, invincible), and I still had a hard time killing things. But it wasn't just combat that was hard, the game didn't give you quest markers like it does now in Skyrim. Quest givers often gave you directions, and you had to write everything they said in order to get to the cave they wanted you to find. often, getting (read as finding) to the tomb was harder and more time-consuming then clearing the tomb itself out. That said, I loved the game for that, as it made Vvardenfell feel so much bigger then it actually is.

Hardest game I've ever played (On PC), would probably be Minecraft. I like to try playing it on "hardcore mode" to see how many days I can survive.

If all else fails, go to Garry's mod, summon a million zombies around you and fight to the death.

Dark souls obviously, but other then that I would say Devil Survivor for the DS. it has a bunch of incredibly difficult fights that you don't actually have to win, but you can try to win if you want a challenge.

aside from intentionally hard flash games (like QWOP) which only last me a while before I stop having fun, I'm fairly terrible with RTS games. I can learn strategies, specific build orders what have you, but i just can't make decisions fast enough to win. My brain just doesn't work that way. However, despite the fact that I lose alot, I still enjoy them.

But I wouldn't say there would be anything that I consider hard. Most games i usually fall into a rhythm or pattern, or i figure out the best plan or whatever, and end up finding it easy, or at most just a bit challenging.

Monster Hunter Tri.

The game itself itself was like- Here is your armour and weapon, go over there and slay that fire breathen monster that is the size of a house!

There is no fancy trick to kill the monster easily as it take alot of planning, dodging/ blocking and timing to bring the monster down.

The game does reward you for your effects as you gather materials from the slayed monster meaning your new gears are from gutted monster you had slayed like how cavemen were fur pelt from the animal they had hunted many years ago.
I love Monster Hunter Tri, but the game is only really difficult if you try to complete the whole Single Player first (except for Barroth, hate him). The easier route would be to go through about half-way / two-fifths through Single Player and upgrade a sword as much as you can, and then go to Multiplayer and play that for how-ever long you feel like. You can them come back to Single-player with great armor and still have it be a bit of a challenge while not being too difficult.

It's a bit like Dark Souls. How well you do is based on patiance and strategy, if you charge in there swinging, you're going to get yourself killed (unless it's a lower tier Big Game and you have a high tier set). Most battles will take from 20-50 minutes unless your over-geared for that part.

Of course if you really want that challenge, try to go through story-mode first, i couldn't do it.

ARMA 2: Insanely hard for the uninitiated and impossible for say a causal COD player, but I firmly believe it's the most fun multilayer game in existence.

For singleplayer it's Dwarf Fortress hands down, remember this is a game where Losing is Fun!

Give Dwarf Fortress a shot. It's like shoving your face through a wall. It hurts to keep on going, it's impossible to succeed, but if you fail spectacularly enough, you become amazing.

Have to say, I don't think I can help you with your problem. I don't know many, if any, PC games that fit that bill.

To just answer the thread title, though? GOD HAND. Awesome game, insanely hard, but so satisfying when I finally beat all the fighting ring challenges, and the whole game on Hard difficulty.

I'm amazed at how many people are mentioning dark souls, especially since the OP stated he's after a PC game. Do people just read the thread title these days?

The original Castlevania and The Legend of Zelda II on the nes/gba. Every death just spurred me on more and more.

The original Mother, without the easy patch. It's one of the only games I've ever played where, not only do you get attacked by your own lamp as soon as the game says go, but can actually lose to if you're not careful. The first enemy in the game, and you can absolutely die to it. Ha!

Ocarina of Time. It makes me feel like a stupid person when I play it. I never want to try the Master Quest edition.
Master Quest would be a hell of a lot easier to someone not as familiar with OoT. You should try it, it's actually a bit shorter at times than the original.

Well... I don't play many PC games. Let alone any for that matter.

But, if you had a PS2, the Shin Megami Tensei games can kick your ass into oblivion.

I heard SMT: Nocturne was a real killer in terms of difficulty.
