It occurs to me as I lay here at night, failing to sleep, that a lot of music has very special places in my heart and in particular game music and wondered what the collective thought about it. What songs, from a game mind you, take you away to the special happy place in your own head? Personally for me its two different ones. One the Mjollnir from the original Halo and that's mainly due to all time my friends and I played and how much fun it was. The second the MGS3 main theme which has always been a major uplift for me when the going gets ruff like its Snake is a BAMF you can be one too. Just wonder what you guys think.

Most definitely the songs in the last 10 minutes of Bastion. In particular, the one when you decide to
Save Zulf and carry him through a hail of arrows from his countrymen while you are unarmed and completely unavailable to defend yourself, since you have to abandon your grossly overpowered weapon to be able to carry him to safety.

Then the credits song which is a mix of two character themes is also pretty awesome. It finishes of an emotional rollercoaster just perfectly.

Since people keep referring it to a game, Fate/Stay Night music, these 2 songs:
The first one would probably be more appropriate; it is music that makes me reminisce about the best moments in a story, that make me want to cry from either joy or grief. The second one embodies the internal turmoil and struggle of the lead of Fate/Stay Night.

There are so many, but the oldest one I can think of right now is Dearly Beloved. I'm going to post the BbS version though.

For me, the one song that sticks out as memorable and meaningful belongs to an old school RPG Wild ARMs:

In the scene when this plays, Cecilia (pictured in the middle0 learns the meaning behind "Love" - in the game, it means "the ability to protect what is precious". As she is a princess, she had believed that people came to see her as a symbol: 'the princess'. However, as she tries to aid Rudy (pictured on the left), a companion whom she discovers has the same biology as the 'Metal Demons' that they fight against, she learns that it's the person that is more precious than what they symbolize. To others, Rudy symbolized power - a forbidden, dangerous and wild power - as he controlled ARMs, Ancient Relic Machines, with amazing ease; something other people consider to be a bad omen or taboo. To Cecilia, conversely, Rudy is a trusted friend, someone whom she could depend on - and it wasn't until that realization that she understood what troubled Rudy and, in the process, herself. When she realized that Rudy was trying to show her that, by his own actions, the High Guardian Raftina appeared and offered her aid in combatting the Metal Demons.

The song, however simplistic it seems, conveys that message so eloquently that it has always stayed in my mind along with that scene.

Just reminded myself of another great song from another old school RPG, Grandia.

So beautiful and so relaxing, THIS is what real music is. To me, at least.

Skydiving from the plane to the top of the skyscraper while Power was blaring out was truly epic.

I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet.

The first time hearing that while galloping across Mexico, gave me the frikken chills like you wouldn't believe.
