What is the most unusual or funniest enemy you can ever recall trying to kill you in a game?

Some games need to provide opposition for the player to overcome. However... some games go above and beyond of what could be a plausible obstacle in the scenarios the game lays out. Other times, the enemies in the game are so absurd and so funny that we sometimes stop and wonder... what the hell did we do to make these guys want us dead?

What game can you recall that had a very odd foe trying to kill you?

I recently finished a play through of Spyro: Year of the Dragon and one of the last levels had T. Rex's in cowboy hats shooting at me with six-shooters but I guess in a Spyro game that isn't too absurd.

As for enemies who wanted me dead and I couldn't figure out why, when I recently played through the Old World Blues DLC for Fallout: New Vegas I never understood why the lobotomites walking around Big MT wanted me dead. I would think that since my character was lobotomized as well they would leave me alone.

I might make a mod pissed, but I have to say being on top will kill me. Play Bubble Bobble for NES while shrooming realy hard and that ghost head chasing you around.

OT: Myself.

P.S. When playing a game you feel you have pervfected at, play the boss fight in Zelda 2, That mirror stuff is your nightmare.

BTW people who play that game in the mid to late 90's for the first time, might have some issues.

Annoying old Party Men
Piles of Puke
Fobbys
Ego Orbs

The final boss of Metal Gear Rising. All phases.

"TASTE THE POWER OF AMERICA."

Also, the 'Fight House' in Metal Wolf Chaos. The White House that's been refitted with armor plating and heavy weapon systems.

Vyers the Dark Adonis, more commonly known as Mid-Boss, of course.

Oh, and Bastion had a few, like pincushions, lunkheads, wallflowers and lungblossoms.

Insect baby demon hybrids from Doom 3. I didn't find a decent screenshot but those things fucking creeped me out.

Headcrabs were unusual. And awful.

Upright cows in Diablo, whose battle cry is 'Moo' were amusing. The dragon terror patrol in DKS was also funny.

Ah, Vyers. Such a great enemy, and what a badass theme he has.

OT: Ultros, the octopus from FF6. Any fan knows why he's here, suffice it to say, he is a complete hoot to be around.

In Warhammer Online: AOR, I was once attacked by an elf shadow-blade whose model had broken. What approached me was a hideous tangle of strips with the art assets stretched at random across them. I have never forgotten the terror.

Ahah, I've found a video. SWEET DREAMS FROM NOW ON, CHILDREN.

Funniest have got to be either the small mushroom people or Mimics in Dark Souls. Small mushroom people because they're pathetic and fall over half the time they try to hit you, and Mimics because they look alot like treasure chests and EVERYONE gets eaten first time around. But furthermore, if you throw a Lloyd's Talisman at it, it goes to sleep and you can take the item it was holding. Best of all, it has a chance to drop the Symbol of Avarice, often seen partying hard in combination with the Channeler's Trident.

If your answer to "funniest" is anything other than this, you're wrong

As for most unusual.... well FFX had some incredibly outlandish monster designs. One in particular, I remember, resembled a floating upside down Easter Islands statue with a bunch of rocks floating around it, best I can describe it.

I'm sorry, I couldn't not do it.

OT - I'm hard pressed to think of anything not previously mentioned.

The most absurd was probably in WoW, I was levelling a new priest character, and used an AoE ability and accidentally hit, but did not kill a critter (I believe it was a bunny), it then started attacking me...

Massive gaping toothed vagina dragon
what game is this from...? Is this what I'm missing out on by not playing Dark Souls...? I have to fight this thing!

---

In Final Fantasy VII you fight against houses at random while you're in Midgar fairly early on in the game.

In Halo Combat Evolved, you can shoot off the tentacle-arm and the weapon-arm of The Flood and I love how they still follow you around despite being unable to do anything against you. I loved having a bunch of Flood followers!

It was either Mother or Earthbound but isn't the very first thing you fight a fucking Lamp? Mother and Mother 2 also have you fight against hippies, dogs, cars, trucks and, all sorts of other bizarre things.

Street Fighter 2 and the car...and the barrels.

Isn't there a Sega fighting game or some other fighting game where you do basically fight a car? And you can chose to fight as a car?

Tekken and Kuma.

Ok i'm buying Metal Gear Rising now. This is me jumping off the fence and logging straight into Amazon. Something about huge melodramatic overpatriotic statements gets me :3

How about the most unusual enemy in Dark Souls, Pinwheel? Unusual in that he is a huge PUSHOVER! It's like FROM missed him from playtesting by accident.

Oh and any time Hazama comes up in BlazBlue. He is the most fun character I have seen in ages. He's fucking evil and he loves it. His playstyle is crazy as hell as well. He throws himself around the screen with his whip and from what I have found out, I can form a completely on the fly combo just by mashing heavy and jumping. Fuckin' hilarious

He's absolutely laidback and unfussed about everything, even when taking hits. It's like Rachel but less civilised and more trolly XD

OI! Where are the Stabweeds? They were clearly the best and most exciting enemies in the game XD
