Depending on the depth of the river, it might be lucky that you didn't miss the rest of your life because of that.

I missed a day of college because after getting back from Sonisphere festival I was hallucinating music...
I get audio hallucinations from festivals. Usually on the way home, the blowers in my car sound like crowds cheering, same goes for when I turn on the water for the post festival shower. After Reading Festival '04 after a night of fire and explosions in the campsite (not me, I was just sat getting drunk), I got home and every now and then I kept hearing the sirens from the fire buggys they have.

I think they are caused by a weekend of drinking, eating shit food, loud music and total physical and mental exhaustion. Good times.

Captcha: loavalu concluded...Good, now we can all get on with our lives.

Not mine, but a friend came in late to a lecture with a serious case of qwertyitis... one side of his face had a very noticeable imprint of a keyboard on it.

Turns out he tried to do an all-nighter in the computer lab and failed.

I consciously turn-off my alarm clock and go back to sleep. My problem is I probably never get enough sleep the night before. I only ever seems to remember what I had planned to do that day when it's 8'oclock at night and too late to do anything about it. But not only do I get all worked-up with frustration, but after I go to bed, My brain WILL NOT SHUT THE FUCK UP. All these ideas suddenly pop-up and I'm too tired to write them down or remember them. I think my body is permanently set on PST.
I know how you feel man. As soon as I lay down in bed my mind kicks into overdrive and all I can think about is the stuff that I have not done. Even when I know I have more time for it, it just pops into my head taunting me.

"Just because"

It is the most stupid, honestly retarded, completely idiotic, brain-grinding, irritating, monkey stomping answer every.

I've always had really bad sleeping habits, and I'm kind of a night owl by nature now. I ended up missing an exam once because I slept in after playing games all night. Fortunately it was only worth 30% of my final grade, so I still passed with what I had from the other 70%. Still, it was a stupid reason to miss an exam.

I should have learned from it, but the next year, I ended up missing half a day of class because I overslept again. The worst thing was that my buddy, who was frequently my ride to school, was waiting outside in his car for about two hours after ringing the door bell and getting no response.

When I finally came outside, he was playing on his DS. I told him I was sorry and that I overslept. He told me that he figured as much, and that's why he was waiting. To be honest, I don't think he even wanted to go to school that day and preferred to just wait for me until the battery died on his DS. It's pretty bad though, when you sleep late so often that your friends know you not answering your door doesn't mean that you're not home.

With me I kept thinking that cars going over the gravel outside was guitars crunching away. And the washing machine sounded like this weird siren thing Rammstein set off.
Was anyone good at Reading that year? I've only been to Reading fest once, last year, twas a bit crap.

Mum locked the door on her way out to work, this was before I had my own set of keys. Finished my breakfast and went to leave for school. Door wouldn't open. I think I just stood there for a minute before I realised I really was locked in the house. Spent the rest of the day watching TV and eating snacks. Lol my mum was really sorry when she got in later.

Yeah it was pretty deep, i saw my feet about ½-1m from the hole while i was upside down.
I still wonder why i wasn't swept away, that river isn't calm.

One of my friends missed the bus because he "was having a wank and lost track of time." He was never, ever allowed to forget that.
Dammit, how am I supposed to top that? That's hilarious.

OP: I was once late because my radio alarm was turned all the way down. I have no idea how the hell it happened, but I've duct-taped it so it won't happen again.

EDIT: Actually, I have one even better. In seventh grade I had a bad case of the shits, so I had to take a dump between 7th and 8th period. I thought it wouldn't take too long (passing period was 7 minutes) and I'd only be a couple minutes late. I ended up being over half and hour late. My teacher let my excuse pass though, since I was an excellent student in her class.

Not exactly what you asked...but related...

I had a really hard exam and it ran late, which was good because I needed the extra time to finish. However, I had another class right afterward...so I ended up being late. No big deal right? A few minutes late because of an exam is a reasonable excuses right?
Not to this guy.
I walk in late and the class is doing a group activity. So I go to the teacher to explain why I'm late and ask what the class was doing. He freaks out on me.
here's how it went:

*I walk in and walk to teacher*
Him: "Why are you late?" *Laser stare*
Me: "I just got out of an exam that ran late, I'm sorry"
Him: "You know, people are always saying sorry and don't mean it."
Me: "umm.." (I was a bit unprepared for that response)
Him: *rage in his voice* "You can't walk in late like that. I should kick you out of the class..."
Me: *speechless*
Him:...."we're doing class work join this group" *points to nearest group*

Didn't miss getting to school but on more than one occasion I'd call my mom to pick me up sick because I had to number 2 really bad. I refuse to use the disgusting school restrooms.

Using the same alarm clock for too long. After a few years of shutting off that annoying noise every single morning, I will inevitably learn to do it in my sleep.
This is my problem. Its why I have to use my cell phone now and change the ringtone every few weeks. I get so used to snoozing that I do it in my sleep. My father often complained that my alarm would go off at 8 and I would snooze it every ten minutes til noon or later, and I would never remember actually doing it.
See, what I do to ensure I actually wake up is this:
I put my cell phone in a wooden box with holes so noise can escape. I then screw it shut with 2 screws. Then I put the screwdriver across the room in a latched box. This way, I have to get up, walk across the room, grab a screwdriver, unscrew the box, THEN turn it off.
Not surprisingly, it works quite well.

OT: I guess the stupidest reason I ever missed school was because I was busy practicing piano for the talent show.
Hey, it was a fun song and my accompanying singer is drop-dead gorgeous! Totally worth it.

Not sure what doors you are used to be where I live you have a lock at the bottom and one at the top. You use the bottom lock to actually lock the door and you use the top one when you want to open the door. So if you lock the bottom one even from the inside you can't open the door unless you unlock it first. Don't have a key then your stuck lol.

Could you post a picture of that, i want to see it
Why would someone design a door that can't be opened from the inside
