As simple as the title says: what do you think is the ultimate geek question?

My friend and I came up with one:
"What would happen if a spell used in Harry Potter hit a lighsaber from Star Wars? Would the lightsaber deflect it? Would the lightsaber shatter? Would the spell explode but leave the lightsaber intact?"

Feel free to answer but also post your own.

The lightsaber would absorb the spell. Energy vs energy. Same thing as when force lightening hits a lightsaber, the lightsaber absorbs it.

Magic makes technology go kinda weird so I'd assume, depending on the spell, the spell-effect wouldn't be hindered by the lightsaber HOWEVER! The person using the lightsaber would pose a variable threat. For example, a Jedi padawan or, Sith apprentice is likely susceptible to expelliarmus but a Jedi Master/ Sith Lord would likely block such a spell by using the force. Unforgivable curses however, could likely break through The Force in much the same way they break through the shield charm.

I had a geeky ass question posted on Facebook: Ponyville has a Mayor, mayors are usually elected though which would indicate Equestria is a democratic country however, Princess Celestia seems to be in charge, ruling as a monarch in place of her unseen King and Queen. What's up with that? Is Equestria actually ruled by an unseen Parliament, where the royal family has very limited/ specific powers/ authorities? Was the Mayor of Ponyville simply appointed by the Royalty? Is there some kind of secret, underground, anti-royal resistance movement among the inhabitants of Equestria?!

What would happen if Commander Shepard was the courier?

what would happen if Necromancy was used on The Army of The Dead (LoTR)?

what would happen if James T. Kirk met his spiritual successor (at least in the alien lovin' department) Commander Shepard?

more to come, maybe.

What's the only science fiction series set entirely in the past?

"What would happen if a spell used in Harry Potter hit a lighsaber from Star Wars? Would the lightsaber deflect it? Would the lightsaber shatter? Would the spell explode but leave the lightsaber intact?" - Spells are targetted mental energy, you can't used lightsabres on the Force itself, so it wouldn't work against spells either.

What is the most valuable NES cart? (Nostalgia gaming geek question sure, but still a geek question.)

Answer? A sealed copy of Stadium Events by Bandai. Which was later changed and repackaged as World Class Track Meet, hence it's rarity. Around 43k.

The only one that springs to mind is this old gem:-

Kirk or Picard?

OP: Spell would probably be absorbed.

As for the most geeky question? I can't help but think of something related to WoW, but I can't figure what it would be and how one would set it up

I don't think there can be an "ultimate geek question", every time I meet a geek, one of us says something geeky and then a romance flourishes for eternity (not gay), but if I had to come up with one it'd be "Do you like D&D?" yeah kinda cheesy, but it'd work.

Wouldn't it depend on the spell, and even perhaps type of spell that was cast?

A spell designed to throw lightning could easily be deflected or absorbed by the lightsaber, but a spell designed to take things apart would probably tear the lightsaber apart.

I've already seen some great nerd questions, there's a series called NO RIGHT ANSWER.

Star Wars, obviously.

Long ago, in a galaxy far far away.

Who would win in a fight?
Pi V.s the Hydrogen Atom

Would you like to see my comic book collection?
I really think this has to be it.

Would Star Wars not count? "A Long Time Ago..." and all.

I have been asked what colour lightsaber would I have. A wave of geekdom washed over us during that conversation.

"So. . . Between Superman and Goku, who do you think would win in a fight?"

My friend and I took this argument to heart. He's a comic book fan and I'm a manga fan, so in light of this we often pit eastern heroes against western ones and discuss who would win. (I believe in the last one Naruto got demolished by Iron Man)

Lightsabre versus Wolverines Adamantium claws.

Can't think of any better.

It includes fictional stuff from two nerd-doms and can't be answered without looking into the physics of the two things.

Though you can deflect Force Lightning into a Lightsaber. Granted it's a force technique and the blade acts more as a grounding source, but lightsabers can be used against force attacks.

I'd say it would probably impact and take the brunt of the attack, but not shatter or break. Then again it depends on the spell.

OT: "MST3K: Joel or Mike?" *hides in hole*

Cookie to @Ranorak and @Zelurien (Sorry Da Orky Man, BG references modern political events without time-travel - so has to be in the future)

Force Lightning isn't the Force though. It's the Force controlling the lightning, just as a directed spell like Elektro Boltus could be grounded by the lightsabre - by grounding the lightning, not the spell itself.

And you can't parry a Force Push, so Bigby's Hand would be equally resilient.

Edit: Thinking about it, you could Counterspell with the Force, so you could use focus your Force through the lightsabre, disrupting the spell's mental energy, but it would be the Force doing it, not the sabre.

Adamantium has a known melting point, but the Lightsabre would have to be in long contact with it to cut it through (even with Wolvie's Skeleton being an Amalgamate of Vibranium/Adamantium). His flesh would be shredded, but it'd be like two solid blades hitting each other. A slow cut (like they used on Phantom Menace would tear through the Adamantium though...very slowly...although the residual heat would kill Wolverine instantly. Until his healing factor kicked in.
