E.T. was pretty bad, but then I had low expectations for it before I played it so it didn't bother me much. The worst game ever, worse even than E.T., I think, is Enter the Matrix. That was supposed to be the best adventure game ever and in blew big time. The only moderately good thing about it was the music and they managed to mess even that up with abrupt hiccups between loading times.

Final Fantasy XII for suckering me into thinking it was going to be all smiles and then bam! Unavoidable hours of grind grind grind.

I put 20 hours into that game, the piece of crap.

Time to get to work...

X-squad (a bad MGS clone which threw in a nazi with a flamethrower from out of no-where)
FEAR (have mercy! gouge my eyes out!)
AVP: Extinction (put my eyes back in and gouge them out again!)
The Hobbit (repeat the eye gouging a third time)
Drakengard 2 (why did they have to ruin such an excellent game by making a sequel?)

I have to say that I never played a REALLY bad game (except for Farcry, GOD I hate farcry). If I play a bad game it allways happend to be at a friends house. I can't come up with an example right now (except Farfuckingcry) but maybe return to castle wolfenstein. And Doom. GOD, seriously. Stop making sequels to it.

Oh, come on, people. You must be really lucky if you supposedly haven't played any worse games than Witcher, Halo 3, Oblivion or Eternal Sonata. I mean really lucky. Or the other option is that you've just begun gaming this generation.

That's why I'm not listing a game like Zelda: Twilight Princess here, because I know it's a solid game, I just felt bored by it because it was Ocarina of Time all over again. And back when I was done with OoT (a couple years ago on the Gamecube), I was glad it was over, because I couldn't have dealt a minute of it anymore.

I wasn't really a gamer during the E.T. times (what 3-year-old is?), so though I've played it through an emulator, I don't think it's really fair to rip on a game when the sole reason I tried it was because I knew it was bad. So my pick is... a gem from the 90's called Maddog McCree, a bad CD movie "game" with bad acting, bad gameplay and bad everything. There's really nothing you can say in defense for this game.

Custard's Last Stand

just for tasteless offensiveness. i remember just laughing out of sheer shock that anybody would even invest a single day towards developing that game.
You sure you don't mean Custer's Revenge?

The tomb raider anniversary 360 port, lag, buggy, and has on more than one occasion, killed my 360.

Oh, and the classic, big rigs, *shudders*.

Peter Jacksons King Kong- Official Game of the movie.

And probably the lord of the rings movie games.

King Kong- Purely because it was boring, didnt really look good nad just wasnt entertaining, though i didnt mind playing as King Kong.

LOTR- The reason behind this is because it just didnt feel epic, the fact you played a character during the battles, you mostly just ran around, and you didnt feel as though you were in a battle.

And halo 2... it was just the game that had to be there to make the trilogy... a bad sequel.

For the most part, I would say that the people who have posted in this thread have had it fairly easy if the majority of you can only complain about games which came out in the past decade, and to those of you who cite legitimately terrible games as the worst game they've experienced, I will concede that Custer's Revenge, ET, and Superman 64 are terrible games, but having played these games and many others, the biggest exercise in complete and utter gaming frustration for me personally was the atrocious "Jim Power: Lost Dimension in 3D" for the SNES, if you don't want to take my word for it, download a copy of it for yourself and see if you can even make it past the first level.
Enjoy.

Final Fantasy XII...
I played about half an hour of it and felt like hanging myself.
It put me off the franchise a bit too...

Custar's... this from a guy who has a bandito as his avatar? :p

I remember that game! It was alright for atari, the instruction book said if children catch you playing it to tell them Custar and the (offensive term for a female native american) were 'dancing'.

My vote goes to Shaq Fu on the SNES. The controls were this bad. I hit up to jump; count '1 mississippi' and than i jumped! The controls actually had a 1-2 second response time.
