what is up with Nerf Guns?

Nerf guns are a good way to get payback if you want to avoid the legal prosecutions that come with paintball/airsoft, i wouldn't screw around with my 500 fps L96 airsoft or a paintball gun, but a Nerf gun, sure, why not? Release all that pent up stress on your siblings, pets, co-workers and friends!

How else can one safely wage war in an office/lab environment? There's glassware, papers, coworkers, sensitive equipment, the works. Ping little plastic or metal balls, never mind the hazards of shooting paint at electronics, is just not conducive to returning to work safely. Nerf, on the other hand, allows you complete Dicking-Around-Freedom. Shoot them, stab them, re-enact your favorite tv/movie/game/book scenes, pretend you're in active combat against the other departments...or, wage an epic war:

I dont know but every summer me and like 20 some other friends have huge scale watergun wars on my friends uncles farm its awesome! though it could easily be replaced with nerf... but its so fun having watergun wars on the hot summer day....

Our campus frequently enters nerf gun wars. It's just not safe unless you're strappin' some foam heat.

That sound so cool.

It gets wild at times. Most are a sort of Nerf Revolver, at least two of the multi-part gun Shoggoth2588 posted a pic of, one that resembles an M2, and quite a few minigun varieties floating around. It's bizarre to be sitting in class, hear yelling from the hall and see the professor pull out some Nerf guns and run out there.
