What is wrong with the Final Fantasty series?

1/ If the characters were douch bags that would be a improvemernt.
2/ The health bar needs to say the amount of health and how much health is left. Like the Pokemon games.
3/ The females voice actor, voices are to high. (I'm not racist but japan will be japan)
4/ The male characters are all soft (not in a homophobic way)but a complaing way
Any other ways to improve the game

Most of your reasons seem kind of silly, honestly....

That said, SE seems to be much more concerned with making good graphics and stories than with making good gameplay. Whether they succeed with the story or not, if the gameplay sucks, I'm not gonna keep playing.

Case(s) in point - 12 and 13, where the game plays for you, and 14, which (afaik) is still completely broken over a year after launch.

2/ Why? It's not complicated. You have a number and if that drops to zero, you're dead. Simple. Besides, quite a few of the games show both current and max hp.

4/ Yeah, we need more stoic, gritty meatheads in our games. There aren't enough of those. Sure, some of the whinier brats are annoying (looking at you, Hope), but I still prefer them over the anabolic anachronisms running around in most western games. Also, saying 'not in a homophobic was' makes you sound homophobic , like you're trying too hard to deny it.

And lastly, OP, you're asking for ways to improve the series, but haven't offered any solutions yourself. Only a list of perceived problems. If you want to create some kind of discussion on a certain topic, it is generally considered good sport to start things off yourself.

Solution to all of this is to retire the brand for a decade, or if they are going to do this, limit it to one every 1-2 years. That way, when the next game comes out, people will want it.

Well, good graphics, at least. I don't think FF ever had a "good" story in the mainline series (which I played from FF through FFX). Tactics came close, though, other than some rather big plot holes.

I think one of the issues with the brand is the fact that due to the setting, story, gameplay and character design changing every game, It's like making a new IP every time.

I.E. FF7 was totally different to FF8, FF9 was totally different to FF10, Etc.

While I know feck all about the games, nor am I protecting SE, that is just my opinion from what I've seen from each of the games, Even the 16-bit games were massively different in this areas, imagine how hard it is now with all the Tech and shit.

I don't even agree with these points even considering the games from 10 onward (and I hate the FF games from 10 onward), these just seem to nit-picking really. The only thing I can agree with is that the bad guys health should be shown, but even then I think there are moves that can show you the health.

That's sort of debatable. Certainly, there has never been a Planescape: Torment among the Final Fantasy games, but considering the limitations of the medium at the time, Final Fantasy VI had, IMO, a pretty damn good story. It wasn't my first RPG, but it was the first that made me care about the characters. Compare to the big western RPGs at the time, and the story could be considered nearly mind blowing.

That has been one of my biggest issues with the FF series.

I love some of the games ... well, only 7, 8 and 9 really ... but I really dislike some of the male characters.

While i'm not a fan of FFX, Auron is one of my favourite characters in a FF game.

And it's the reason I couldn't play FFXIII.

Not much point playing a game where you beg and plead for terrible, painful things to happen to the male characters just to shut them the fuck up.

To be honest, I actually liked FFXIII-2, it was a huge step up from XIII really (which I personally loathe)
If they just go back to their roots a bit more, the series could rise from the ashes. A major improvement I would like to see is bringing back the world map. I really miss the grand scale of things you get when you go there for the first time, get the airship, etc. At the very least the series is evolving which is more than I can say for some properties.

I theorize that by number 17, the game will literally be about a crystal dreaming a timesong into existence in the form of planet-sized space-station/tortoise. The villain of the game will be Newtonian physics itself.

I don't even remember where I read it but recently saw someone writing that in 1999, they would have taken it as a given that they would buy every new Final Fantasy title and, now, they barely notice when they release.
I'm pretty much entirely there. Went from spending months staring at the little snow-globe advertisement in Nintendo Power to not knowing what number we're on. I couldn't tell you why either. I liked the last one I played, X, and haven't bothered with them since.
