I dont know what I'm saving up for next, (probably a car) but i have about $5000 saved and just recently bought a bear costume for $210. It is so awesome.
My next big purchase will also be a change in the way I operate daily. I plan on buying a suite of Apple hardware and some for my current PC. This includes the following:
- 27" iMac with all upgrades and a second 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display
     (3.4GHz i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD + 2TB HDD, 6970M 2GB GPU, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad)
- 17" MacBook Pro with all upgrades
     (2.3GHz i7, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Magic Mouse)
- Mac Mini Server with all upgrades
     (2.0GHz i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD + 750GB HDD)
- iPad 2 3G 64GB
- iPhone 4 32GB
- 11x2 - 3TB HDDs
I will be getting the highest specified version of eat unit at the time of purchase, for instance if an iPad 3 or iPhone 5 comes out I will be buying that. The set-up I have laid out will be so I can use the iMac as my main PC, the MacBook Pro as my portable PC, the Mac Mini to hold the domain for my file server and PCs, the iPad to remote control my PCs from anywhere in the world using RDP software, the iPhone as my new phone and iPod and the HDDs will be put into my current PC so it will be a file server attached to the Mac Mini.
I hope to have all this saved for by the end of this year or in the early months of next year.
I work at a store that is an Apple reseller and I get 20% discount on all Apple products and we also sell hardware so the HDDs are not to much of a concern. That coupled with being able to claim up to 30% on the purchase price on tax because it is related to my job make this all somewhat of a cheap purchase.
Gonna buy the cockpit and cabin section of a boing 747 from an airplane graveyard, truck it to my land and turn it into a house. Also, some hand picked stuff from the flood of games comeing out in the end quarter of this year.
aye, i have something related. been into warhammer for a little bit now, but still only have a small army. so im saving up to buy a couple hundred dollars worth of Tau product from the GW site.

Well I just bought a David Tennant coat, which cost me quite a bit.
When I have the money, I'm going to buy Black Ops instead of just borrowing it, and all the map packs for some kick-ass zombie fun. (I doubt the new zombie map-pack will give you all the Black Ops zombie maps, but that'd be cool.)
Next big purchase, not including the many games coming out, would have to be a PS Vita because I think it look's awesome and it has a new Wipeout on it!
University is going to be the big spender for me, that's not for a few years though, because of my useless governments lack of funding towards tuition fees, I wouldn't be able to afford it >.>
My next purchase is going to be Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the Augmented Edition, but that's actually pretty cheap (to me), but I believe my next BIG purchase is going to be Skyrim, the Collectors Edition... even though the price is a little steep, but I have sworn to myself that I wouldget the biggest edition of that game :/
But if we look at non-gaming purchases, it's probably gonna be an apartment. I have been looking for one now, but I am beginning at my work September 1st. in another city, so I probably gotta move sooner or later. I just want the first 3 months at work to pass before I move so I know if I want to stay there or find something better. Also, the first three months are a testing period where they can fire you for no real reason, so I want them to pass before I move.
Gonna buy the cockpit and cabin section of a boing 747 from an airplane graveyard, truck it to my land and turn it into a house. Also, some hand picked stuff from the flood of games comeing out in the end quarter of this year.
Its an idea I have floating around, aeroplane junk can be relatively cheap. A full on boing 747 costs $2 million I believe (pre-owned). Without the engines its less than half that, without the electronics and other tinkerings its value is measured as scrap aluminium. I think a full 747 striped of its valuable bits is about $35.000, and I only want to get my hands on a little bit of space and seal it up. Im sure I can save for a few years to cover the cost. The land would be far more expensive than the plane section, thats really the problem.
Also getting the appropriate building classification might be a problem, but I'm sure if I actually attempt this crazy plan it'll be when I have the money, and that will be after I have some experience as an architect under my belt. In reality Ill probably only be able to afford some land with enough money to build myself a cheap cube and pimp it out beyond recognition.
With any luck, my next big purchase will be a new bass rig:
Orange Terror Bass 1000 amp head
Orange PPC412A/PPC412 speaker cabs
custom work done on my Digitech Metal Master so it can handle the low-end of a bass
Crybaby Bass Wah
Squier fretted Jazz Bass
Kahler Trem System for said Squier Jazz Bass
