Hmm...there's a lot of boss fights out there that excel in different areas, but one stand outs as just an altogether fun and memorable fight.
Favorite Boss?
Try THE Boss.

Despite the insane difficulty of just reaching the battle, let alone winning (f*** Youmu up the arse with her own sword), everything about it just clicks in a way that's hard to describe.
I thought you loved her! (must play one of these games some day)

For me, I cant decide out of all the battles in Devil May Cry 4, I loved that game.

Actually mabey the last boss in Jak 3.
I would honestly say the last fight with Dante when you're Nero would be one of my all time faves in that game.

The false king from Demons Souls.

I don't know why, but after fighting so many bosses in that game that towered over me, finally reaching this guy and going one-on-one in a sword duel to the death just felt so climactic.

Whenever I play Demons Souls, I ALWAYS save him for last. It just feels like that's how it's supposed to be.

Dude, I know how that feels. Although I haven't played that Touhou game yet. The one I'm playing is freaking 6 with this crazy vampire:

I know Flandre is much harder than her, and that I've been progressively working on the final stage, it's only on a good day will I actually reduce Remelia down to her final stage. And even then I die because of her stupid immunity to spell cards and damage. GRRRRR!!

Although, my favorite boss to fight has to be Patchouli:

Even though I die on her a few times, her stage and herself are my favorite part of that game.

Yeah, well...I never got past Sakuya without continues, and I'm pretty sure I haven't even seen Remilia's last card, so I wouldn't know. (I haven't beaten Yuyuko either, but...)

Wow... got too many to just pick one.

Because, be honest, you never forget that very first battle against a Big Daddy.

Because... well, LOOK at him!

Say what you want about the rest of that game, but THIS was easily the best part of 358/2 Days.

Probably one of the first TRULY epic boss fights I ever played.

Oooh Nice choice.

Me, personally I'd have to say either

[HEADING=2]Final Hazard in Sonic Adventure 2[/HEADING]

or
[HEADING=2] The last fight with Vergil in Devil May Cry 3[/HEADING]

Those fights always proved to be the most epic and personal favorites for me mainly because I got to see Sonic and Shadow in their super forms fighting together.
Secondly I loved the last fight with Vergil because he proved to be a final boss that was actually the hardest boss to beat. The fight had you using every trick you learned throughout the game and kept you on your toes the whole time.

What he said about DMC x 1000.

Virgil is one of the few actually challenging bosses in games these days when even on easy difficulty. Plus it's refreshing to have a final boss that is indeed the hardest boss in game.
Someone above mentioned Dragon Age: Origins' Archdemon, but I would have to disagree, as this is an example of the exact opposite of Virgil. I found the fight with the High Dragon much harder. Much.
Found the Archdemon quite an anti-climactic boss battle TBH.

Virgil on hard difficulties really takes the cake though.
Kinda makes you wish DMC3 had the (one) good feature from DMC4 - the ability to switch styles at will. Being stuck with just Swordmaster or Trickster made the Virgil fight quite a tough one.
(Protip: Trickster is probably the most useful, as he's an absolute beast to try and string combos together against. Dodging and agility is key)

:)

The one that Springs to mind is Dr. Steinman from bioshock(because his intro scene was cool and also disturbing as hell). Also, it's been said before but, fuck, almost any boss in Bayonetta is really really cool. Last but not least, in MGS 3: snake eater, "the fury" was the one I particularly liked the most along with "the fear".

so yeah, I can't decide.

Mundus in Devil May Cry.

Not only do you fight a 30ft tall winged mockery of god with lasers and a huge ass sword: you fight a 30ft tall winged mockery of god with lasers and a huge sword in space. And then surrounded by lava, with demonic lava dragons.

The music's good too.

True True, but I rarely find good use for Trickster unless I'm fighting all of the Bosses again in that one room or Fighting the Damned ChessBoard.
However I do love to use Quicksilver and Doppelganger on Vergil. Those two are lifesavers.

This is also true. Quicksilver especially, seeing as Yamato is fractionally faster than Rebellion - if Virgil starts swinging, your only chance is to teleport (trickster) or activate Quicksilver and whack him a few times before he stunlocks you.
Though that's the big thing about Virgil - he is a fair fight, unlike some other bosses. He doesn't indefinitely stunlock you with one cheap attack. You've always got a chance to fight, and there aren't any "undodgeable" moves (a lot of bosses tend to have these).

Though in terms of styles, I take it from your comment I'm not the only one who finds Gunslinger or Royal Guard totally useless in this fight? (Though Royal Guard is pretty damn useless 24/7 TBH)

Actually Gunslinger isn't all that useless especially when Fighting Cerberus, Nevan and those fallen Angels. Secondly I think Royal Guard does have its perks, but I only save it for a Boss who I know I can get close to and has a few Undodgeable attacks.
But I usually switch between Gunslinger, Quicksilver and SwordMaster

Most fun? Stallord from Twilight Princess.

Most epic? Fighting Xenmas for the first time in Kingdom Hearts 2. Something about running down a skyscraper to meet him halfway and proceeding to completely obliterate his face with the right timing was something I dream of recreating in an MMO game.
love every stage of the final boss in that game the one where you can fly is probablt my favorite followed closesly by the final.

Probably 02 from Kirby 64. It's a pathetically easy final boss, but it's probably as dark and serious as the Kirby series ever got. Blood coming from its eyes, an incredibly serious/epic song playing in the background, a really cool character design for the final boss, a dark colour scheme, the scariest villain in the Kirby series being one of the only villains to be just pure evil, and the fate of the universe in your hands. It's not as bloody as the final boss in Dream Land 3, which is still as graphic as the series has ever gotten, but it does everything else better.

Man, when the hell are they going to bring back Dark Matter? It's by far the best villain in the Kirby series, and one of the best Nintendo villains ever. : (

Ah, no - I meant for the final Virgil fight. It's very useful in missions where you have to take on hordes especially, I find.

I too generally only use Swordmaster and Gunslinger, perhaps with Quicksilver just for a few laughs here and there.

But I will never use Royal Guard. Even in normal combat. It's just not as exciting or flash to use, I guess... :/

Aaaagh, I cried at the end of that fight.

All the 'boss' fights in MGS 3 and 4 are epic, but I definitely have to count my stalemate with The End among the top ones. Took me nearly 2 hours to kill his bearded old ass, but I got his parrot (and ate it).

Crying Wolf was tough, too. But man, the fight brought back some beautiful memories.
