Full Metal Alchemist, until towards the end when they made it go all weird >.<
Other than that, Cowboy Bebop was rather amazing <3

Dragonball obviously. Isn't that the right answer? I haven't a clue what anyone else is doing when they don't put that down.

Dragonball & Dragonball Z are the kings of all anime.

List Tiem!!!
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Full Metal Alchemist (both of them were pretty good)
Death Note (as long as you accept that the series ended with L's death)

Probably some other stuff, but I usually read manga instead of watching anime, so yeah...
Also, Death Note's judgement is based on the manga version.

I don't think there is much of a contest here. This anime was the highlight of Toonami (R.I.P.), came on everyday immediately after school, kicked all kinds of ass, and is considered to be the greatest anime of the 90's, bar none.

Forget Kai, that version sucks. You know why. I say this because Dragonball Z, the original series, is my favorite anime.

Of all time.

Ever.

For God's sake, who can forget this?

[small]Why yes, I do own the entire series on remastered DVD in those pretty orange boxes, thank you for asking.[/small]

Ghost in the Shell
'Nuff said

But for the nostalgia factor (Beware of 90s german techno song):

Still sends shivers done my spine when I hear that song even though 13 years passed in the meantime...or probably because I am 13 years older.

I'm not a diehard anime fan, but my favorite is FMA. 2nd is Case Closed just cuz I like a good detective show/manga :D

Death Note. The second season drags it down a bit, but I enjoyed it to the end, so I guess I'll still go with it.

You know, it's that one where all the characters had normal hair, the main wasn't an angsty punk with a mysterious past, and the villain wasn't a one dimensional cardboard cut out. Oh Also, I'm positive that the main character had a practical weapon. Can't put my finger on what it was called though.

Can I put an anime movie...? Well 5 of em at least:

1. Kara no Kyoukai(The Garden of Sinners)

2. Eureka 7

3. Rainbow Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin

4. Full Metal Alchemist(1st Season was actually amazingly well done for veering away from manga and FMA: Brotherhood is just manga adapted so...yeah)

5. Durarara!!!

Garzey's Wing. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWru5o07j_I]

Just kidding, though really, it's maybe one of the funniest animes I've ever seen.

Anyway, I'm going with Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's not a perfect show, but I love it to death anyway. Cowboy BeBop probably comes in at a close second.

Legend Of The Galactic Heroes [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LegendOfGalacticHeroes]

Aired first in the 80s and certainly looks that part and can sometimes drag on forever. But its just so epic and cerebral that I have to love it for that.

Awesome, another Legend of the Galactic Heroes fan! I'm only about an eighth of the way through, but it's shaping up very well, and may tie Cowboy BeBop for second eventually.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Planetes. Eden of the East (well, except for the mysterious past). Akira. Cowboy BeBop. There's more to anime than just Shounen Jump, you know.

Note: I'm still comparatively new to anime, so I'm just getting around to watching stuff like Grave of the Fireflies, and the works of Satoshi Kon, so I may not have as big a pool of reference as some of you.

My all time favorite is Baccano!
Darker than Black and OHC are close seconds.

Birdy the Mighty

Haven't heard of it? You have now!

A galactic law enforcer comes to earth to arrest an alien criminal when she accidentally kills a young boy. Guilt striken, she saves him by uploading his mind into her body and now she has to save the planet from an ancient super weapon while sharing her body with this poor kid and helping him maintain a normal life. Also she has the appearance of a beautiful woman who's assumed the cover of a famous model/actress. It all sound like a rompy, ecchi comedy that barely takes its story seriously but it actually takes its story very seriously and I'm immensely grateful it does. Give it a shot via Hulu if you have some time to spare.
