As pure French as wine, cheese, and surrender.
Although I'm not sure I believe that "pure" thing. My dad's side were fur trappers, and unless there are Swedes in my bloodline that nobody's talking about, my high cheekbones didn't come from Gallic stock. My narrow, squinty, almost Asian-looking eyes suggest at least a little Inuit and the cheekbones betray Micmac tribal heritage.
But since French-Canadians get REALLY touchy (at least my dad's side of the family does) when you suggest Indian heritage, I'll never know just how many bored woodsmen trapped a different kind of beaver in my family line.
