So, what is your "clever girl" moment in gaming?
(for those who have no idea what "clever girl" is, see Jurassic Park)

They're not so much "clever girl" moments as "god damn it, another enemy came in from behind" moments.

AI or human players?

Anyways. I got a "clever girl" response yesterday actually, in TF2.

1 sniper on BLU on the map sawmill was standing behind a corner and only the mouth of his rifle was poking out sniping people on my team. I, equipped with a huntsman, walked the long way around and ended up behind him. I taunted him with the huntsman, but he moved just as I stabbed him, so I only got the entry stun on him, not the kill, but just as I stunned him, the other sniper on our team headshotted him. He then said: "Clever girl, clever girl indeed".

Was funny ;)

basically when any ai manages to dupe me ( without blatantly cheating, that's just annoying )

if you'd like an example:
the dumb ass crysis ai's get caught on rocks, terrain, stuff. whilst taunting one particularly bugged alien, another one flanks me while i wasn't paying attention to my radar, and manages to kick my ass from behind

lesson:
don't mock the game, it will mock you back.

I have a couple.

First was me playing with two of my mates in BFBC2. They just got the game and I was pretty good so I was holding down one position and they kept trying to kill me and kept failing. One didn't show up for a while so I looked through the back windows and saw a tank.

The second was in Shogun 2. I thought I was pretty good and it was a 2v2 skirmish match. I had no idea who my ally or my enemies were in person so I didn't know what to expect. The match started and I noticed that one of enemies had less troops, most likely hidden. So me and my ally attacked him first and destroyed his visible army except for his general who was hiding behind his ally.

I figured some archers would popup and ambush us so I kept some infantry at the back. During the first attack my all lost a lot of his troops to the second ally's army, acceptable losses. We both charged the second ally, his army was already engaged and as mine finally entered my arse was rammed by several cavalry troops. I was destroyed completely.

When you have an eye on a creeper, you know where it is so your safe, right? And then some green pokes out the corner of your vision.
"A second creeper, clever girl... (TSSSSSSSS)"

Armored Core 4 Answer:
Having to fight 2 NEXTs in a fog, with the CEO of Arisawa Heavy Industries as my teammate. This guy is literally a tank.
Ok so, I manage to get one onto me. I fly way out to the edge of the map thinking "Ok, that other guy's got Red Rum. I should be able to kill Starka quick."
Halfway through my fight, Starka comes blazing in behind me, and rips out half my remaing health.
So at this point I'm thinking "WTF Arisawa?"
I go over and he's just recovered from an EMP lock.
"Clever Girl..."

Actually, of all things, Warcraft 1. The computer started making feints and flanking maneuver after a time, and seemed to grow and improve as time went on. It also actually probed for my position and strength in a location, and altered its plan based on that, instead of just continually throwing wave attacks at things. Frankly, the AI in Warcraft 2 and 3 never seemed to reach the same level as the original. Still not as clever as a human opponent certainly, but...instead of playing the game of 'the computer is a cheating bastard' or throw things straight at you...it adapted and developed a reasonable strategy.

Sadly, it never learned how to deal with certain things, like the summons of your mage's...you could use those to play wild hob with its plans as decoys and the like.

hard to say as i frequently drop JP quotes in my day to day life...BUT if you have played Red Dead Redemption, then you are familiar with the wild animal AI - especially found in cougars and bears.
My specific moment in RDR: Trying to complete the challenge of killing a bear with a knife, which is quite the challenge indeed, I figure out that I need to ditch my horse and do the thing on foot completely. I am fighting this bear, from a distance to pick away at its health, and then i decide to do the deed. I get close and it's charging me...so I focus on the bear and get ready to land a perfectly timed strike...it's coming fast...all of a sudden i hear cougar near by...then I see cougar...tackling me...and killing me while the bear turns around and walks away...clever, clever girls.

EDIT: speaking of animal AI, I imagine the Skyrim dragons will lend themselves to quite a few 'clever girl' moments...I cannot wait!

Playing L4D2. chased by a witch. Closed a door and prepared for her to break through. She stopped trying. I thought she gave up.

She found a way around.

Clever girl.

Well, yesterday in Minecraft I was setting up a nice wheat farm, I had the entire area enclosed in a fence with a single block gap so I can get out. I then notice a zombie and a creeper just standing behind the fence staring at me. As I'm aiming my bow at them another creeper, that must have somehow squeezed through the hole in the fence, tackles me and destroys half my farm.

I remember saying clever girl as it happened.

It happened to me once in CoD (when I used to play). I was playing Modern Warfare, and I was having a ball hucking back grenades. One lands pretty much in my hand. I pick it up to chuck it back...And I lose my hand. They started cooking their grenades. Very clever.

In other games...Every time the Combine hit me with a Bounding Overwatch manouvere. God damn, that shit be effective. For those of you not in the know,Bounding Overwatch is when two teams in an element operate in concert, alternating between covering fire and advancement between eachother. You literaly can't poke your head out.

Doesn't it suck when the enemy starts busting out a real-world military tactic?

My moment... I remember it fondly...

I return home from a long day's work to see my girlfriend on the computer, deleting her and my WoW characters (several 80's). I ask her "What are you doing?!"

She says, "WoW is such a waste of time. I cancelled our subscription and to make sure I lose incentive to play I'm getting rid of our characters." She grins triumphantly at me.

I nod slowly... Then whisper... "Clever girl."

I got two.

1. I was playing fallout 3 and when at a rather low level I barely got into a fight with a giant radscorpian. I killed it but was heavily wounded and out of ammo. I saw a red blip on my compass and laughed, thinking what if it was a second one? It was just a normal radscorpian, once a finished using all my good ammo to kill it I turned to see another giant radscorpian which promptly killed me.

2. Minecraft! I was creeper hunting with low health... not smart. I was fighting one when all of a sudden I hear a hiss and boom. Ambush =(

I was playing gears of war 2, on insane during the first fight with a kantus. And I was behind some cover when a ticker started going off beside me. I quickly rolled to the right, straight into another ticker that was already prepped. The fucker blew me to pieces.

Red Dead Redemption. Me and my brother were playing online on free mode in the woods to the north, and we seen a bear in the distance, so we pulled out our sniper rifles and aimed down towards it. Out of NOWHERE, a bear came from behind us, and beat me down, leaving my brother alive. Bear tactics are deadly...
