To me, and most likely just me, I find the inclusion of male nudity, and tasteful depictions of male/male sex to be where I define 'mature'.

While most games do not depict male nudity in any way I do hope that someday it will be included as much as the endless streams of female nudity. it will say. to me, that game developers have finally grown up and become more a mature about there own bodies and feelings. Naked men exist in the real world, however I find it odd that in video games...even in hetro sex scenes' they are able to please a woman with there pants on. Say what you will but to me a man with no shirt is not 'nude'.

Now to my second point...and to that I simply say 'dragon age' (I never played jade empire). To me those game represented a 'waking up' in terms of maturity. I know that most of the characters were Bisexual (even that's a step in the right direction), but for me it was such a nice fantasy world where men would flirt freely with other men and the only fear was a verbal soot down...not a literal one.

Also the sex between Zevran and the male PC was, to me, done with some amazing care that it was actually quite...good. it was like whoever directed the scene knew his stuff, knew what actually went on, and knew hot to not gloss over it all. It made for one hell of a sensual, mature and wonderful scene.

Just my 2 copper.
That's an interesting argument - I'll definitely agree there's a huge double standard with sex in games haha. And yeah, I thought Dragon Age (the first one, not the second one) had some reasonably good romances. I thought the sex scenes were kind of irritating and silly, but the actual interactions between the characters were interesting, and it didn't shy away from things like childbearing that would be an issue in a pseudo-medieval setting. I also really like how (at least the Morrigan and Alistair ones - I don't know about the others) didn't go with the "solve emotional issues, receev secks" thing that Bioware games sometimes do.

It has to have some sort of meaning to the story, or at least include character development.
If a game suddenly goes "okay so this guy is having sex with a girl he met five minutes ago yay boobies," it's obviously not executed correctly.
And as you said, it's okay with a sex scene in a game, just like in any other medium, but it highly depends on the panning of the camera.

if an something happeing in the story is given as an excuse for a sex scene, its immature.

if a sex scene is given as an excuse for something to happen in the story, its mature.

basically, the sex has a point; character development, plot drama, something. its working for the plot, not the other way around.

I don't really mind sex scenes in games at all, the same way I don't mind them in films. I also don't really understand your problem with the way sex scenes are represented, are you trying to say that you find the camera's zoomed in too far, or what?

A thing that bugs me with games is when they have sex scenes, but then shy away from nudity, there's nothing worse for me than seeing two fully or partially clothed character models rubbing against each other pointlessly (Looking at you, Dragon Age), I mean, you've gone far enough to have sex represented in your game, but you can't bring yourself to have the characters nude whilst doing it? Why? I can sort of understand in games that want to keep to a lower age rating, but when your game is rated 18+ I can't really see the problem when you have excessive violence and gore but you're still too scared to put a boob or two in your game.

The Witcher 2 so far is probably one of the most of mature applications of an (almost) full-on sex scene in modern gaming recently, due to the fact others have stated that Triss and Geralt are in a pre-existing relationship and they are beneath an Elven garden that is dedicated to love and sexuality.

Dragon Age and Mass Effect sex scene's work as well, although Dragon Age gives us that hideous "hump in clothing hurr hurr" crap, while Mass Effect at least has the characters entirely naked.. and just side-boob to compliment it.

as long as games don't have interactive sex-scenes it's fine.
Ah ha! I see someone else has played Indigo Prophecy (aka Fahrenheit). ^_^
Funny why that game was banned in some countries. Apparently feeling remorse for killing a person is bad. Mindless genocide of alien races isn`t. Weird.

If there is a porno in the middle of the game, I'd like the game to warn me about it. I read a book and it had a 60 page russian porno when it was supposed to be about the Chekist Take over. I was supposed to make a report on it at the same time.

The dead broads in L.A. Noire aren't exactly attractive as they should be naked when they're bruised and beaten (and dead), but that kinda adds to the grizzlyness.

Also: God of War totally punctuated the titties, they had SEX MINIGAMES.

I would say something like the scene at the beginning of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. It made sense considering the relation between the two characters and their approach to sex.

I'm not a fan of the way BioWare handles sex. It's like seeing someone who isn't human observing humans and coming up with a step-by-step guide to getting two humans to have sex.
