I'm just curious to see what everyone's ethnic background is like. Personally, I'm of german, italian, french, and yugoslavian descent. How about you?

That I know of I'm a half Irish, half English Caucasian. However, apparently my surname is a Spanish name from the Elizabethan era, so I don't know what to make of that.

I'm French (French Canadian), Ukranian, and Norse. Norse being my favorite. I have a German last name though, despite having no German ancestry.

I have about 8 different ethnicity in my blood but primarily Irish and Italian. One of my old history teachers said "bad combination" when we had to tell the class. He was one of those old style teachers that would still hit you with a ruler for sleeping but if you got on his good side, which I did, you had an easy A.

Mostly Norse, a bunch of German, some English... and my paternal Grandfather had no idea who his father was... so potentially a bunch of other stuff.

Mostly English, an eighth Scottish, and at some point we think my last name came from France.

I don't know about my mum (white), but I know that my grandparents on my dad's side of the family are from Jamaica. So chances are they (and thus I) are descended from slaves. So I guess that I'm probably distantly related to some African family. Whoop.

rural Scottish farmers (the orginal sheep shaggers) as far back as I know. Except for one grandfather, who was a policeman.

Quite frankly I'm bloody lucky I'm not ginger or overtly alcoholic.

Kind of related, my surname. When at primary school, we had to research our family surnames.

My freinds all had things like Ramsey (of strong fist!) or McTeague (descended from the mighty clan of Teague, meaning beautiful flower!).

I had Short. Guess where that comes from? "He who is short of stature".

I don't identify with any culture present in either modern or historic human society, so I tend to ignore my background. But, genetically, it goes something like this:

Russian (about half)
Irish (about a fifth)
Scottish (about a fifth)
Canadian (about a tenth)

I'm not sure about the exact proportions, but these are the closest I can think of right now.

i used to say i was russian but then i realized that for the past three hundred years russia has sucked and i dont really like anything in the culture so i tend to identify as human
