D.gray man - excellent story, great character i loved every second of it. It is by far my favorite anime.

Trigun - Nicholas D Wolfwood, enough said.

Gungrave - Brandon kicks all kinds of ass.

Hellsing OVA's - You really have to ask why i like this?
I second your recommendation of Gungrave. I perfered the games ending, however.

Out of curiosity, just what the hell is D.gray man about?
D.gray man is about a group of people called exorcists they use "Innocence" to destroy demons that are created from the recalled souls of the dead, they fight the millennium earl and his hench men known as the noah.

It's difficult to describe and i suck at explaining best bet is to look it up on wikipedia.

Thank you. I've seen some ads about it in Death Note and was interested. Oh, and I thought you did a fine job of briefly describing the story. Wikipedia has a nasty tendency of spoiling plot.

Read Berserk. 4 out of 5 things you've listed are included. Especially #3.

Trigun-From the half way point onwards it is really good.

Cowboy bebop-Fun and imaginative episodes, the plot only starts to develop at the end really and in a few short episodes it?s all over but it is still one of the greatest animes ever.

FMA-The initial abruptness of the first 2-3 episodes put me off at first but after this it was all good all the time.

Bleach- Epic like DBZ but without the overly drawn-out fights that last for 30eps.

Gundam seed- Most people tell me that they think Gundam wing was better but I found the voice acting in wing to be uninspiring (But then again I watched the Dub so maybe the Subbed version is the one everyone praises). Seed had an excellent dub and the female protagonist was capable of smiling (Seriously how can you go about proclaiming peace and pacifist ideals with a scowl on your face?)... Anyway good mecha action, good story.

12 kingdoms- I have only watch the first 3 DVDs so far but this is an excellent anime with an old feudal Japan setting and supernatural themes.

Ah well yeah i guess you shouldn't look it up then P. But it is very interesting a few religious backdrops but they are easily overlooked for the sheer awesomeness of the action.

"Hokuto no Ken." If you've seen it, you know why.

I'll explain. Even though it has the best martial arts styles ever "a style that makes people explode, a style that slices through everything, etc), the real greatness is that most everyone who is important is very well characterized. Very few antagonists are evil just for evils sake. Also, the good guy's elder brother, named Toki, looks like a white haired Jesus, and has been dubbed "Kung-Fu Jesus."

yea i tried watching berserk, however my most hated thing in animes are flashbacks (for no particular reason) and i realized that berserk is almost entirely a flashback, it kinda drove me nuts. i could barely stand the flashback spot in claymore, and there is literally no solid reason i hate them, i just do

Can you really call it a flashback if it takes nearly the whole damn series to show? Anywho, I recommend the manga over the anime.

My two favorite animes of all time are; Eureka 7, which was absolutely amazing in every aspect of it's being. And Gundam 00 the most recent Gundam and the first one I've watched in it's entirety. If anyone has yet to watch Gundam 00 do so, it just finished today with the exception of the movie slated for 2010.

Alright, list time.

->Any Miyazaki, except Porco Rosso. Well, see it anyway, its still Miyazaki, but its his weakest work. But especially makes sure to see Princess Mononoke. Its. A. Damn. MASTERPIECE!

-> Paranoia Agent. This show really pulls off so much whilst being so surreal. And it doesn't overstay its welcome, like so many today.

-> Hellsing and Trigun. Both based on managa, and both differ from their source matter. However, they both look fantastic and are well-written, and have top-notch action.

-> Akira. This one is older, but it really set a standard.

-> Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (1 and 2nd gig). This show looks beautiful and really the plots in both play out really well. For some reason, I NEVER got into the first movie and its sequel. In those two, all the philosphy was awkwardly forced for some reason.

-> Code Geass. This one really surpised, as I was expecting some kind of shallow nonsense that you get from alot of anime these days. However, it pulls off the mecha aspect well while playing a very strong plot. It covers a number of themes, including responsibilty, loyalty, perception, etc. There's a weird amount of fan service, but it doesn't really pull away from the show at all. Every battle feels important not just in the battle itself but also to the plot as a whole, and not many mecha shows can pull that off. I would say a must see.

-> Samurai Champloo. This show looks great, has plenty of high quality action, and mixes old-world japan with hip-hop. Amazing. The plot could be better, as it feels that alot of the subplots are not related to each other or the main plot in any way, but still a great show. Well, sort of...

-> I tentatively put forth Gundam 00. This show tricked me. The first few minutes had me convinced that this show would be the realistic gritty side of mobile suit war that I had yet to see properly addressed. However, I was wrong. This show does deliver, though. It effectively looks at the conflict from a variety of different stand points, and does it well. Unfortunately, the nature of the plot lends itself to what seems like a train of Deus ex Machina's. This one will be hit or miss. However, its the only Gundam show I've ever enjoyed. AT ALL.

->Ninja Scroll. This on was weird. Anyone who has seen Basilisk will get a sense of Deja Vu. Its your classic bloody ninja action movie, with each fighter possesing some unique ability, etc. However, the fights are (weird powers aside) realistically done, and it helps to remember that Ninja Scroll is old-school, and gets props for setting a standard.

I've heard good things about Envangelion, Death Note, Gun Grave, and Full Metal Panic!

Fan of Ghost in the Shell right hurrr.
Ghost in the shell is in the same category as neon genesis for me.

Good animes with reasonably good plots, but they also have deep messages about life that if you think about too hard cause your brain to explode.

How many Dragonball Z characters does it take to change a light bulb?

Eureka Seven's definitely in my top ten. It's one of those rare shows that excels at everything it sets out to do. Great characters, well paced plot (except for Anemone's character development near the end but its overall effect on the show is minor,) and great art and music. I love how it doesn't spoon feed you all the answers right away and often hints at future developments and character backgrounds before they are actually revealed.

Ghost in the Shell's another great series that makes you think. The first movie and both TV series have well plotted stories. I haven't seen the newest movie.

I must confess I am a big Slayers fan. It's just a silly and fun show. I like Galaxy Angel for the same reasons. Sometimes a show shouldn't take itself so seriously.

I recently started Legend of the Galactic Heroes and think it may become one of my favourites. It's not a show for action fans for sure. What it is can only be described as epic. It's a huge war story, told from multiple sides and is written more as a documentary than a character piece. The two commanders focused on most, though, really are written as tactical geniuses and it's the giant scale chess game they play that makes me love the show, especially since neither is a villain or a hero.
