My all time favorite used to be Bakemonogatari, but has recently been overtaken by Steins;Gate. Oh the memories...

Special mentions: Clannad, Kanon 2006, FMA Brotherhood,Katanagatari, Monster, Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, Baccano!, Durarara!, Mushishi, Cowboy Bebob, Samurai Champloo, FLCL, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and I'm sure I missed a few.

I don't have just one favorite. Too many great anime for that. Though there are 4 I can watch endlessly and they're Gungrave, Koi Kaze, Toradora, and Birdy the Mighty: Decode.

Still waiting on the third season of Birdy.

Though I made it very clear in the other thread that I don't like anime, at the time I did my favorite was Gundam Wing.

What... the... hell?! Man, Nunally's gonna be pissed! But seriously, that's just trying to shock a dead horse back to life... one that's already died with a shitload more dignity than is otherwise normal for an anime series.

3 Usagi Drop, more recent yes but everything about it is so heartwarming and adorable that I can't help but love it.

I will forever be confused as to why people think that series is so damned good... ah well...

A part of me really want to mention that, but the graphix make me wince each time I start watching it... but then I watch the character interaction, damned good set pieces and a brilliant plot, and ignore that aforementioned aspect.

Yu Yu Hakusho. It was interesting and kept its pace well across 112 episodes. I've gone through the series 3-4 times, and I'd do it again with no problem.
I'm somewhat surprised I wasn't the first to say it.

For me, the show is precisely what shonen anime should be. It has lots of action without becoming repetitive, a compelling story that takes itself every bit as seriously as it should and no more, and even at 112 episodes it never overstays its welcome. Gloriously well-made show. It isn't perfect, of course, but it's not too far away.

Dragon Ball and Dragonball Z...isn't that the correct answer for the whole thread's question? I'm pretty sure it is.

I also love Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Yu Yu Hakusho is probably third

If it's any consolation I wasn't influenced by anyone to watch that anime. I was just flipping through the channels and saw it on Sci-Fy. I got interested immediately and watched the series on a weekly basis.

I mean if you watched it and still didn't get the hype then I don't really mind. We all have our preferences, but the ending sold me. There was so much happening at once where it wasn't too hard to follow and every character was well established to the point at which their deaths had some weight to them.
That was my view on it, but I also did Admire Rurouni Kenshi as one of the greatest as well. The ending was pure and potent and plus I hear they're doing a new one

I'm going with Hellsing (either version) or Trigun, even though the anime version had a pretty shitty resolution.

I'm surprised this has gotten to 3 pages without any mention of Ranma for once...
anyways, I guess my favorite would have to be, not in this order, Avatar, Pokemon, Ranma, Naruto, Sailor Moon occasionally, and that's about it.

DBZ has to be one of the worst animes ever made. Great story and characters, but it was so, so, so God damn drawn out.

I'm glad Cartoon Network ran it with five episodes a week; I don't know how Japan didn't break into civil war on one episode a week.

I am torn between One Piece, Cowboy Bebop or Gurren Lagann. Honourable mentions goes to Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2nd Gig, FLCL and Tenchi Muyo.
