Asheru, not technically a band but then again saying, "favorite band" kind of excludes hip-hop fans.

That's Polyvinal records Youtube page, watch any music video, all of their songs make no sense and their music videos make less, and yes their singer is wearing makeup.

AC/DC, Andrew WK and DragonForce are 3 of my favorites right now.
AC/DC is a pretty perfect meld of blues and rock.
Andrew WK's music is just so happy and when I listen to him it makes me really energetic.
DragonForce for obvious reasons.

I had a bit of an emo moment last night, lying there, listening to Ghosts on vinyl.
Fortunately, it didn't get to the dusting off the razorblades moment.
At the moment, the band I listen to the most at the moment switches between Cat Empire, Juno Reactor and Dethklok, depending on how much traffic is between me and where I need to be.
I can't really pick a single favourite or even a favourite per genre. I can't really understand people who pick one band, then dedicate their lives to it, tattooing themselves with band logos, ensuring they have every album and every variation of album artwork of each album, plus a collection of everything the band has ever been in close proximity to. Likewise, I don't understand people who don't listen to music, instead using it as a distraction, listening to whatever happens to be on the radio at the time.

The ultimate in twisted fucked up beats. He's got such a distinctive sound but within that such a wide range of influences.
The Velvet Underground
Proto-punk/pyschedelic
They were amazing, so different to anything else before them, although they're sort of classed as classic rock I pretty much see them as being the opposite.

The original rap with a message, if only more modern rappers would take their influence from these guys, the fact we've gone from Fight The Power to Crank Dat in 20 years is shameful.

I love Nightwish. Say what you like about their status as a metal band...their marriage of the symphonic, semi-operatic (or fully operatic in pre-DPP albums) and rock/metal elements make my pants explode. I really like most symphonic metal, although progressive and power are cool, too.
