For me it just has to be that one from Mafia, where this one guy has evaded so many assassination attempts they pull out all the stops to get him. If this cutscene were in a film it would have stayed with me long after the film had ended- to see something this brilliant in a video game (games usually being pretty crap at storytelling) - it just blew me away. All the little details- especially that tiny eye twitch- brilliant!

Also the Assault in Conker's Bad Fur Day gets a mention because its that rare perfect spoof- take something serious and put a twist on it that nobody really expects (i.e. the massacre of all the cute cartoon animals) to make it downright hilarious- and slightly more disturbing than the source movie itself.

Just as the title states, what is your favorite cutscene of all time, from any videogame ever released?

For me, it would be a toss up between the cinematic for the original World of Warcraft, Any cinematic in Diablo II, or the ending cutscene for Metal Gear Solid 4.
Eh? I'd say that's the worst cinematic I've ever scene. Overly long, tedious, bloated, arbitrary and unnecessary. The arbitrary BS of bringing Big Boss back... It's awful, in my opinion.
The thing about the Metal Gear Solid cutscenes though is that they're so bad at times they're good. With that said I was bored out of my mind with the ending for Metal Gear Solid 4, and kept checking my watch and sometimes covered my ears from the embarrassing dialogue.

Yeah, it's not any worse than many other dubbed cutscenes from Japanese games. But it has a special place in my heart. You see when I was a kid, my best friend was one of those overly emotional and serious types. If a movie was made to feel sad, he would feel sad no matter how corny it was. He got mad at us when he brought the movie Guyver to school, and we all made fun of it for being terrible.

But you know what? During our first playthrough of aforementioned LIIIIIGGGGHHHHHHTTTTT scene, while I myself, and the other guys were laughing our asses off like any sane person, he fucking cried. I don't even mean got a little teary eyed, but he bawled like a baby. Then yelled at us for being insensitive jerks over such a "moving scene." For that memory it's one of my favorite cutscenes in any game.

I acutally enjoyed the final, overly long cutscene. After that awesome 1v1 fight, I just got to sit back, relax, and watch the end result of all my hard, hard work.

For me, watching those cut scenes (meaning the entire game) was hard, hard work.

Also, best cut scene? Well it would have to be this one, which was a milestone in storytelling at the time and reduced countless gamers to tears:

To each his own, I guess.

And yes, that is a great scene. Thank you for reminding me of it.

I like the cutscene in Silent Hill 2 when James reaches the hotel lobby when the town is possessed. What happens in that place is something that stays with you long after you turn off the game.

Snarky answer: Any cutscene I can skip.

Real answer: Any general speech from Rome: Total War in which the Roman general is drunk, insane, bloodthirsty, or otherwise has the traits required for the really off-the-wall speeches.
