I remember seeing a favorite Disney movie thread a while back, so I thought, "Hey, why not make one about Dreamworks?"

So Escapists, what is it? For me it has to be Prince of Egypt. It just has a beautiful atmosphere, amazing songs whose primary job is conveying the characters emotions, and tells a religious story that can be appreciated on its own. I just love reliving the nostalgia of watching this as a kid.

Captcha: the bible

Weirdly relevant to my choice...

Tough contest between The Road to El Dorado and Shrek for me, they're both brilliant films I loved to watch on repeat as a kid and still do from time to time.

Is it okay if I do a "from good to great" list?

Okay, these are my particular favourites, listed from good to fucking awesome. From top to bottom, I should add.

- The Road to El Dorado
- Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit
- Kung Fu Panda
- The Prince of Egypt
- How To Train Your Dragon
- Kung Fu Panda 2 (Lord Shen is easily one of my all time favourite animated villains)

Google is your friend, It was done by Warner Brothers.

How to Train your Dragon, The Road to El Dorado, and Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit.

Shrek would have been mentioned but the multiple sequels killed it.

Seconded. How To Train Your Dragon is just a brilliant film.

Road to El Dorado is also quite good too.

I guess I'd have to say How to Train Your Dragon, besides having the lame cliché lie/reveal plot element it was a darned good story overall, told well, and visualized beautifully with characters who actually acted intelligently and relatably.

Has a horrible title though, How to Train Your Dragon? It makes it sound like the movie's about something totally different than what it actually is.

Considering The Road to El Dorado is the only movie my brother and I pre-meditatively watch when I visit my family, I'd have to say that.

It's also probably their best movie. Narratively creative, gorgeous to look at, funny as hell, and fondly reminiscent of a lot of older movies with similar premises topped off with Elton John doing the soundtrack.

That movie wins.

In recent memory? Most definitely "How to Train Your Dragon". Although the Kung Fu panda movies get some points for being about Jack Black as a panda and still being pretty damn good.

Prince of Egypt is the only 100% snark- and popculture reference free Dreamworks animated movie, so it wins by default. Eventhough I would say a lot of the character animation in that movie is kinda stiff. But then Dreamworks has never been that good at actual animation.

How to Train Your Dragon is a distant second, since it was the first Dreamworks cartoon since Prince of Egypt that had any sincerity.

I must be the only person who hated How to Train Your Dragon in the world. The book was way better.

Prince of Egypt was amazing. It blew my mind when I first saw it and it still manages to put in a situation where I'm awed. >.>

But I love Shrek and Shrek 2. Best movies ever.
