So, what kind of punk do you like? Cyberpunk? Steampunk? Atompunk? Or the latest and newest one iPunk.

Which do you like from the list?
For me I am interested in iPunk, I rather like the future presented from Tom Cruise Oblivion as well as the bridge of the 2009 Enterprise.

Everything cyberpunk I find interesting and enjoyable.

It is a tough choice between cyber and diesel. Although Art Deco Cyberpunk is the best combination I can think of. My favorite Cyber punk is Gibson's Bridge Trilogy, well that and Blade Runner. Sebastian's building is a highlight.

I only know what the first two are, and while I do like both, Cyberpunk is really where it's at. I'm glad to see it's making a bit of a revival at the moment, thanks to Deus Ex:HR and CD Project's forthcoming "Cyberpunk 2077". I'd like to see more games in this setting to be honest, and even wouldn't mind revisiting some old favourites, or elements thereof.

Robocop is one of my favourites, not sure how come that IP never got dusted off this decade along with everything else being remade/rebooted. Read Gibson's "The Sprawl"...alright but not great. Strange that I say that but those books are more less responsible for the entire genre (as LotR was for fantasy); you can see the direct influence on things like Shadowrun, The Matrix and Jonny Mnemonic, among others.

According to that list, the one I like is postcyberpunk. Although it might not count given the absence of "punk" elements.

Steampunk. I just like the brass coloring it results in. Also it means you can dress everyone in posh Victorian era getups.

I've never thought much about these, but of all of them Teslapunk seems the coolest. Mostly because I think Nikola Tesla is cool and have a completely romanticized view of him in my head.

I am definitly one on the Steampunk band wagon... the Victorian sci-fi just piques my attention perfectly! And as a traditional Chap, the whole gentleman aspect also tickles my fancy delightfully.

Add in a dose of Professor Elemental and you have a perfect saturday night!

Currently running a DnD campaign set in a Steampunk dystopian Europe where everything has gone to hell, from Zombies to Clockwork Hitler. I fucking love steampunk. Add a little bit of transhumanism and an invention mechanic (That needs a lot of work) and things get very interesting, very quickly (Luddite Cleric screaming about Sky Whales, Sorcerer that has become essentially a heroin addict with an auto-injecting contraption on his arm to keep up his spell power... Yeah.)

Then again, my favourite game is Victoria 2 these days. I just love the Victorian age. And steam is just so much bigger, so much louder, so much more awesome in every single way. I fell in love with steam thanks to MOSI in Manchester. It was an amazing place for a 6 year old to visit and its one of my few childhood memories (I lost most of them).

Hmm, well, I quite like the Steampunk aesthetic but my problem with it is that a lot of people make it far too serious and dull. That and the fact that a lot of people come up with really generic, repetitive designs for it; everyone's a Steampunk upper class inventor/adventurer! Where are the Steampunk street urchins? Steampunk chimney sweeps? Steampunk... Anything, really. That's why I'm only really happy with Steampunk when it leans more towards the "Gaslamp Fantasy" end of the scale. Things like Girl Genius and Fallen London.

So other than that, I have a big soft spot for both Dieselpunk and Raygun Gothic.

I enjoy CyberPunk and PostCyberPunk the most.
The former I enjoy because novels such 1984 and Brave New World are among my favorites of all time, the aesthetics usually associated with CyberPunk are beautiful (I'm a technophile shuddup!), and the protagonists appeal to the part of me that wishes to topple social orders and governments.

PostCyberPunk I like because of the aesthetic and how the world isn't a total dystopia. Sure shit ain't the best ever but it is more realistic than Neon Big Brother watching you through your own technological implants. The stories are slightly happier and slightly more optimistic and the protagonists usually want to improve things rather than go "YOLO" and start toppling governments and MegaCorps left and right.

I wish they would all go away equally, They feel so contrived and visually tacky. The more you emulate some fantasy setting, the more boring and predictable it gets, as the design decisions are made for you. I wish here was more exploration of different themes, rather than trying to fit them into specific constructs :c

Cyberpunk. I'm a huge Deus Ex and Blade Runner fan.
I think Bioshock's Decopunk is pretty awesome as well.

Any Punk, really.
When creative people set their minds to explore alternate technology developments I bubble with glee.
The latest example with Bioshock Infinite, which explores quantum mechanics in 1912 is just amazing, even though they don't really do much with it on the technology side, aside from asides. :p
