I've recently seen one flew over the cuccoos nest which I just loved, but other than that I really like Hidden Fortress, and night of the living dead. I never remember stuff for lists like this.

I totally support the original Planet of the Apes movies from the 60's. The special effects aren't great, the costumes still look a bit dated (but not horrible), but the story behind the movie is still what sets it apart. 2001 isn't a horrible movie as I've seen it a few times on TCM, but I completely get lost in the last half hour of the film and apparently don't do the right kinds of drugs for it to make sense.
