When I was a kid it was X-Wing and Enterprise-D. I'm the same age as Star Wars, and was just old enough to watch Next Gen. Just kinda follows.

Hah, I laugh at all of you nerds with your sci-fi and anime, the realest spaceship was this crazy number crafted by a cheese loving man and his dog.

Off to the moon!

My favorite sci-fi ship? Well, that'd be Picard x Vader of course

Ahem. Right, ships?

I'll have to go with the Lucrehulk-class Core Ships of the Confederacy. It might not have had the same firepower as a Star Destroyer, but...those things were majestic, for some reason.

I've always had a soft spot for "Swordbreaker" from "Lost Universe" (an anime that never really became very successful, done by the same people who did "The Slayers" and "Trigun").

While my opinions on the show itself were mixed, I think the Lexx from the TV show "Lexx" was pretty awesome too, it's pretty much a giant bug flying through space that can blow up planets with it's eyes. It's piloted by dysfunctional twits though. "Lexx" is pretty much Farscape's "Moya" enlarged to gigantic size and loaded with planetbusting firepower. Albeit "Moya" got to be in a much better show overall (in my opinion).

It's also not a ship per se, but I've also felt Larry Niven's "Ring World" was one of the more conceptually awesome ideas out there. Sure Dyson spheres are bigger as an concept, but the Ring World was just kind of cool.

My favourite ship(s) to look at ... the Jupiter and the Typhoon i'd have to say. I don't know, many say they're ugly but for some reason they appeal to me

I'm seeing a lot of symmetrical grey constructs. I challenge that concept with the GTD Orion from FreeSpace.

Well, this isn't the best picture of one, but I've always been keen on the Rheinland battleships from Freelancer:

I think it's the green glow from the engines and the searing green beams from the gun batteries that sold me on the aesthetic of the Rheinland military ships.

X-Wing.

Growing up I had X-wing, TIE Fighter, X-wing VS TIE Fighter, and X-wing Alliance. I don't care if space craft don't really maneuver like jets in atmosphere, those games were fun as hell. It was amazing to see the fighters and capital ships from the films and EU blasting each other to pieces.

Close runners up would be the Imperial Star Destroyer and TIE Interceptor because they are badass.

I'm a big fan of ships where their form follows their function. I like ships with minimal aerodynamics and an obvious purpose in their design.

I really like the Dindrenzi ships from Firestorm Armada, their entire ship building ethos is to build a massive weapon called an 'arcbolt railgun' and build the rest of the ship around the weapon. Their ships are essentially huge railguns with thrusters and armour.

I also really like the Peacekeeper Command Carrier from Farscape. Rather than being studded with weapons it has four gigantic frag cannon turrets on a rail that runs in a disk around the ship meaning it can reposition its' turrets as necessary.
