What is your favorite signature weapon?

My favorite signature weapon for an entire series (a weapon that represents the series): The Sol Blade in Golden Sun
For a specific character: Link's hookshot. That's right folks. I love being able to whip it out, point it at something, find the one pixel of wood on it, and then teleport there. Also it functions as a great stun weapon.
Come to think of it, I'm also a really big fan of the snake-whip from the Indiana Jones dungeon in Spirit Tracks. That thing is amazing for keeping enemies at bay and it has just the right crack to let you know that enemies are hurting.

The Halo pistol
no other gun is more valued then this. not the whimpy ass halo 3 or the halo 2 magnum i mean explosive rounds and 2x zoom that is always on mark.

This. Long since gotten over the Halo fanboy thing, and long since stopped liking Halo since ODST....but that first pistol. The amount of times I finished the first game using nothing but the pistol on Legendary aside from when I didn't have the pistol, which wasn't often.

Not as many people understood the concept as I'd have thought. I'd say that dirty Scorpion Gun from the original Red Dead Revolver or 47's Silverballers. AMT Hardballer Longslide + chrome plating = winning.

i'll have to agree with OP and say the pulse rifle..

if i was to pick another it would be the STA - 52 Helghast Assault Rifle with underslung Shotgun attachment - From Killzone 1 .. that shotgun saved my live more than anything ever.

I would say a three way tie between the Master Sword from Legend of Zelda, The pre-nerfed Natascha from TF2 and The BR from Halo: Reach

i'm rather partial to The Disciplinary Action myself, but your right nothing beats the ole pickaxe.

Here's a few particularly neat ones:

-Cloud Strife's Buster Sword. Say what you like about it, and I have, but even I have to admit this weapon seems pretty iconic. And, actually, rather badass, particularly compared to the Master Sword (and before you say anything, I'd rank FF7 as a game on exactly the same level as Ocarina of Time i.e. they're both all right, but not as good as the fanboys say.)

-Heavy Weapons Guy and Sasha. One of the few games where the minigun isn't just on a turret, and has bullets instead of a heat meter. Also, he's quite genuinely in love with his gun. That's actually kinda cute, in a slightly psychotic way.

-Sword-chucks, yo. A pair of swords, wielded like nunchucks, by the only person stupid enough to possibly make it work. Need I say more?

-Chell's Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device, hereafter referred to as a portal gun. Anyone who has played Portal will probably agree with me that even though this gun doesn't fire bullets, that doesn't make it any less awesome.

-A lot of characters from Touhou have stuff that qualifies as a 'signature' weapon. A few examples: Reimu has those yin-yang orbs, Marisa has her mini-reactor thing, Youmu has a sword that cuts through almost anything, and Yukari has a train. A real live train. Probably not the same train every time it appears, but come on! It's a train! Does Master Chief attack with a train? Didn't think so!
