Suikoden II. Without a doubt.

Warren Spector, the creator of Deus Ex, System Shock, and Epic Mickey, has stated the Suikoden games as one of the primary influences on his work.

Put simply: There is no replacement for great storytelling, and that is something Suikoden II does better than anyone else.

My favourite games have come and gone, and the games I love now will most likely get replaced by other titles in the future.

- My very first favourite game was Kirby's Dreamland/Adventure (I can't remember which).
- Second was Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. This title made me a full fledged gamer, and showed me videogames could be more amazing than movies.
- Third was Resident Evil 2. It was my first survival horror game, kinda stupid, but I enjoyed my time with it.
- Fourth was the Spyro series on PS1.
- Fifth was Metal Gear Solid.
- Sixth was Silent Hill, followed by Silent Hill 2 which was the game I bought a PS2 for.
- Seventh was Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter. Both came out at about the same time, so they share that spot.

Anyway, after that came Metal Gear Solid 3, Okami, God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, Bully, Resident Evil 4, Dead Rising, Call of Duty 4, Half-Life 2, Portal, inFamous, Journey, and many more that I'm probably forgetting.

Right now I'd be forced to say SWTOR. I'm infatuated. Borderlands was really good too, although I'm hoping 2 will eclipse it. So was Crash 3: Warped though....

Jak 2

Mostly because it embodies a perfect balance between challenging, and yet very fun gameplay, to the some of the best directed and written cutscenes in existence.

And the saddest part is that it will never be topped because games are moving farther and farther away from fun challenging gameplay. (Mostly because they're trying to swing ridiculously one way or the other, and also because they forgot what "challenging" means and just air on the side of frustrating) and more disappointingly though games are drifting away from cutscenes in favor of the Half Life style in engine scripted scenes, or just Ken-Burnsing some concept art. Or they go too far in the other direction and you end up with Max Payne 3 or Metal Gear Solid 4 or Catherine with cutscenes that can hit 45 minutes if you're not careful. There's also Bioware style "Shot-Reverse-Shot" scenes or Visual novel style still pictures talking. It's like no one understands how much power a well directed cutscene can have.

Viewitful Joe, so colorful and coming out at when every game thought grey was pretty(they still do) I couldn't help but love, add solid controls, fair but difficult challenges, and an easily identifiable main character gaming gold.

Mirror's Edge, no question.

Runner ups are Tomb Raider III, Riven, Myst Online, Day of the Tentacle, and the original Fallout.

If I really had to choose just one game as my overall favorite. I would choose...

Okami

Gorgeous visuals, incredible soundtrack, intuitive gameplay mechanics. If there was any game that could be used as proof that games can be art, it's this game. Clover Studios shouldn't have gone the way of the dinosaur after this...their entire staff should have been bowed down to as the gaming gods that they are.

CAPTCHA: good afternoon

Oh...hello to you too, Captcha. Nice of you to be polite.

For me I would have to say the original Bioshock. It was a gift from a long time friend of mine and I still play it today.

I'm always surprised when people list Ocarina/MMask over Link to the Past.

Anyway, mine has to be Xenogears. Or Mirror's Edge. Xenogears has had the 'best game ever' slot in my mind for so long, but when I replay it I don't enjoy it as much. I don't know if I have the authority as a jaded adult to remove it from the pedestal it was set on by a much more optimistic youth gamer.

Spyro: Year of the Dragon
I make it a thing to complete that game at least 3 times a year.

I can't decide between Grand Theft Auto IV and the first Mass Effect.

GTA IV, I love for many reasons. It looked incredibly good to me graphically, especially the car destruction, played extremely well (I loved the combat, and the car physics), and you felt like you were in a real, living city, what with all the friend activities and just the atmosphere of the place. The missions were interesting as usual for the GTA series. But what I loved most was the storyline, the way they swapped the usual silly shenanigans for a serious, tragic storyline. And with that, still managing to be as genuinely funny as all the previous games in the series, just in a down-to-earth way. People always say San Andreas was better, but honestly, the only way in which that one beats IV for me is in terms of having a better game-world to explore and more to do after the plot's finished. IV still beats it for me.

As for Mass Effect, it was the first Bioware game I played and still my favourite. Again, I loved the graphics, it was a seriously good-looking game, and the characters were just so interesting to talk to, even the ones that weren't particularly exciting in themselves, because you could control all your interactions with them, and because they were, by and large, very well-written and well-acted. The combat in Mass Effect was certainly nothing special, in fact it's the one area in which I consider the two sequels superior, but there was nothing particularly wrong with it in Mass Effect either; same with the Mako, I never got all the hate. But really what makes it so great to me is just the sheer epicness of the storyline. The climactic battle on the Citadel is completely incredible in every way, and never fails to inspire awe despite the fact I must have completed the game about thirty times by now. Similarly to my other choice, I'm aware a lot of people consider earlier Bioware games like KOTOR to be superior, but while I love KOTOR it never had quite the same level of epic that Mass Effect did for me. I found the combat comparatively dull and the storyline didn't seem so interesting (though it's certainly still the best storyline within the Star Wars universe to me).

It's a tough call but probably Fallout 2. Even though i've finished it like 20 times and know pretty much everything there is in the game i still play it through every once in a while. I've bought 3 copies of it over the years aswell as getting a cracked version that actually worked.

My second favourite would probably be Jagged Alliance 2 although it's pretty harsh to start off with.

My favorite game is, and always will be, Morrowind. There are honestly too many reasons to list.
