EDIT: Don't want to labour a point but...
We get it there has been the same topic many times, but peoples taste can change. Also theres bound to be new members such as myself who havent had the chance to post in these threads.

love both posts...and agree on both sides...great stuff comes and goes and it's tough to live in the now while referring to yesterday as the best all the time...but c'mon, certain things are classics and totally motivate no matter what the scenario...i'll take the beatles, belle & sebastian and the clash for $200 with the option to sub in the bowie, style council, judge jules, tiesto or soul wax at will...

Its true that there are new members that havn't had chance to comment on thread run previously, but most are open to comment on if only you search for them before staring a new thread. There has been problems with the repetition of threads, so by pointing it out once in a while we might stop some from ocurring in the future. The forum guidelines advise on this and it would be a good start for new folk to this site to perhaps read them.

EDIT: Then you won't get a twat like me barking at you!

Still BÖC.
Although AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimi Hendrix, Gorillaz, Electrix Six, The Coral, The Shins et al. are also great.

Yes but with those threads the last time somebody posted on them was months ago. Most people would realize the thread was long since dead and either start a new one, or wait for someone else to do so.

I object to your reality....(/quote]

My reality noted your protest and promptly overruled it since the protest has no jurisdiction over my reality. ;)

I find your lack of ability to define what you like and don't like rather strange, as taste (whether it be musical, theatrical or interactive) is one of the defining points of someone's personality and serves to allow a small insight into how someone's mind works
Well... my mind is pragmatic, non-allianced, nuanced, and skeptical (in that I usually don't accept something at face value but rather for its objective qualities). And this reflects very well in my tastes. I don't say "I like tune X because band Y made it". I say "I like tune X because I enjoy listening to it". I'm not going to say a tune I don't liek is good just because a particular artist made it. It would be silly.

most my music taste is solo artists tho.
you can count a soloist as a band, kind of. like in itunes it says "band" and media player says "artist"

That topic also talks about genre of music, this one doesn't.
So? That topic has still covered this one's subject matter. If you've got to decide between a pill to ease your heartburn and indigestion or a pill to ease your heartburn, would you take the latter? Would you keep both around?

Anyway, just report and move on, guys.

For a while, Green Day was my favorite band, mostly due to the fact that I was introduced to rock music through them. Now, my favorite would have to be the Foo Fighters. GROHL!

EDIT:

Pink Floyd FTW
Wasn't aware that pre-contemporary artists were allowed. Yes, Pink Floyd would outrank the Foo Fighters in this case, but my favorite contemporary artist is the Foo Fighters.
