After watching the Big Picture about Street Sharks, it got to me to thinking about some of the shows that have absolutely fantastic themes back in the 80s & 90s. Whilst Street Sharks has a pretty standard theme song for a 90s show there were some that really stood out. What were yours?

My all time favourite is from The Dreamstone. I loved this cartoon when I was younger and the music in it was absolutely superb.
The outro song for the show was "Better then a Dream" by Mike Batt & The London Philharmonic Orchestra (not many cartoons had that going for it). Its an absolutely beautiful song.

Then you have my second all time favourite which was the jazzy awesomeness of Sharky & George! The crimebusters of the sea... you know the words!

Special Mentions go to Albert the 5th Musketeer, Conan, Superted, and Count Duckula!

DRAGON DRAGON, ROCK THE DRAGON, DRAGONBALL Z
God fucking dammit that was some hardcore stuff. Jesus.

My dad also showed me H.R Pufnstuf and we'd watch it together. Really campy show, but it's silly fun.

Honestly can't remember much else. Stuff was either forgettable or I'd just shift off to something else once I was done watching. Might come back with some over ideas though.

Well....this, I love the newer pokemon more but the original intro remains the best out of all the series:

Also bonus points to this:

But these come damn close as well:

Pinky and the Brain, hands down.

And you can never forget Bill Nye.

There are others, but I should stop while I'm ahead.

Thread ends here. Im sorry but you cannot compete with the almighty airwolfe when it comes to theme tunes. Also if you were a blue thunder guy you are an inferior human being

The Pokemon song, obviously.

That and when I was younger I used to love the Cardcaptors intro music. Then again, at that point I was in love with everything Cardcaptors related.

Dang. Ducktales was already said. I guess my next choices would have to be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or The Animaniacs.

Intro: The one and only.
Outro: The one and only
but also the two others used in one episode each.

I still get choked up listening to them.

EDIT: How could I forget?!

It's a tough choice so, I'm afraid I'll have to go for 3.

First off Bots Master. The show was ok I guess, but the intro is an awesome rap that introduces the characters and gets you pumped. Very 90s, but still cool.

Secondly is Defenders of the Earth. I loved this show as a a kid. It has old comic and serial characters like Flash Gordon and the Phantom and they fight monsters, aliens, and Ming the merciless.

Finally I can't choose between the Gerry Anderson Supermarionation shows. They're all great with awesome themes, but I'll go with captain scarlet.

I've always been a bit of a sci-fi fan, so it's hardly surprising my list of favourite theme songs includes shows such as Doctor Who, Stargate SG-1, Star Trek Voyager, and The X-Files. The X-Files theme being being very popular among early online composers as a remix target. I found something like a dozen remixes in various old-school formats over the years.

I mean come on... it's just so ridiculously metal, how could you not? especially when I was a kid and wasn;t allowed to listen to rock music... this was a godsend...<.<

Too many to count. The music was so good back then that sometimes the intro theme was the highlight of the entire show.

While I haven't followed Pokemon for awhile, the first theme song was the stuff dreams are made of. It sent shivers down my spine when I was a kid. Same with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and many others.

I've never heard of Dreamstone before, but that is a bitchin' theme. Thanks for sharing it.

Someone build a fucking time machine already!
