Hadoken is an ambiance band from Massachusetts (not to be confused with that British group Hadouken!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRcRSb7bu60&feature=related

The Protomen is not just my favorite obscure band, it's in the last few weeks become my favorite band, PERIOD.

It's a rock-opera styled album based VERY LOOSELY on the early megaman games universe, but with an incredibly dark take on the story. The story is deep, the lyrics are amazing, there is little in-jokes for megaman fans, they take it quite seriously. It's literally the most talented group of musicians i've ever heard.

Well, anyone who's heard of Agalloch gets multiple cookies.
One of my favourite bands.
I know Agalloch and I'm surprised that they'd show up on a "small bands" thing. When I think small band I think of bands who generally never get their music out of their hometown, though I do understand where you're coming from.

http://www.smithseven.com Any band on that website is an awesome local band from Memphis, TN. Looking For Alaska is a pop-punk band and is going on tour to Chicago soon; they're one of the very few bands that have gotten out of here and I'm very excited! Wicker is good if you like crappy punk music, Raleigh Symphony and Fire Catapults! are awesome if you like ska punk, The Summers do a great acoustic set, Hits the Fan has some good songs... Smith7 is a great source for local punk/rock music out of Memphis.

Tokyo Police Club.

And now I, jackanderson, have won this thread thanks to that submission.

Don't believe me? Listen to the A Lesson In Crime EP and then bow down to your new superiors.
I've heard of them, never heard them though. They were at Latitude this year and I ment to see them but was too busy at the other stages, probably getting punched in the face by Alice Glass of Crystal Castles. I kid, I kid... but I wish I got punched n the face by her, that's how much I love them I want her to punch me in the face.

Ahem... ah I'll just go check Tokyo Police Club (nice name) be right back.

*time passes*

It's ok, not really my type of thing anymore indie rocks bands. I'm into more electronica and synth pop music or techno type stuff, or just generaly something a litte more agressive or loud/weird. There at least has to be a synth in there or I'm not interested.

The Inner Banks - it's practically impossible to even find information about them on the internet, let alone someone else who knows about them.

Also...

The Cooper Temple Clause, they unfortunatley disbanded a couple of years back but I followed their career very closely from start to finish. It's a shame they never really made it big, they have some great material. Escapists from the UK may have heard of them but I doubt any Escapists from Across the Pond, or anywhere else for that matter, will have heard of them.
