I don't think they are small or unheard of. Well most my friends know who they are.

OT: Wouldn't know. Maybe Ludovico Einauldi. I think thats how you spell it. Oh and Phillip Glass.
i dont know anyone who knows who the bloody hell they are except me :(
lol. Well maybe thats cause no one likes that type of music where you are. I know who they are. I personally don't like em though.
i love 'em but to each their own i guess :p

You Love Her Cos She's Dead, so desperately trying to be Crystal Castles cira 2008 but it's still enjoyable enough and full of enough glitchy synth noises that I can dance to it so all is good. No album yet, only EPs.
I was one of about five people watching them on the new bands stage at a little festival a couple of years ago. Thoroughly enjoyed 'em and bought a t-shirt from the singer afterwards. Nice girl. But yeah, they definitely wanna be Crystal Castles so badly it hurts.

Ehm... I would suggest something of my own but I have no idea what constitutes 'little-known' these days. I guess Eureka Machines are less than huge... they're good on record but absolutely phenomenal live, everyone should see the drummer at some point in their lives.

who hasn't heard of girls >.>?

And... i dunno... asking what my fav little know band is... is akin to asking to what my favorite band is. I don't listen to bands just because they are obscure, and i don't avoid bands just because they are popular, but i... dunno. yeah. i'll shut up now.

La Dispute

The music is great and the lyrics are probably the best I've ever heard.
Quite depressing if you listen to loads at once though.
Heck yaahhh! I actually thought of this band when i read this title, so it's awesome that you posted them. They are really "not well know" and yet i seem to run into alot of people who love them (if that makes any sense >.<) Anyhoo, have you heard their hear, hear ep's? they're more "chill" then their album material, but still reeeley good, you can get them for free from their site ^_^

I'm going to say Muse as one of them even tho their mildly popular.
As MUSE are the best selling progressive rock band on planet, and universally recognized as the world's best live act at the moment, I would say they're more than "mildly popular".
Fuck muse. They aren't universally recognized as the worlds best live act. I say they aren't sooo.. boom! they're ya go. & popularity doesn't = goodness, which is what this thread is about, methinks.

And now I, jackanderson, have won this thread thanks to that submission.

Don't believe me? Listen to the A Lesson In Crime EP and then bow down to your new superiors.
You defintely win the thread for naming an overplayed mindie band...

The Line between Screamo *if thats what your refering to* and various sub-genres of hardcore have always confused me, though I listen to some stuff that has been refered to as "Real Screamo" though I don't know how truthful that is.

Emo
Cap'n Jazz
Rites of Spring
Snowing
Owls
American Football
and
Midwest Pen pals

Screamo
Circle Takes the Square
The Saddest Landscape

Tristania definitely.
I also recently found a fairly unknown band called Crystallion that's pretty good.

I have a few that no one has heard of because it's a niche genre. Lots of DnB or dubstep artists no one has ever heard of, unless you listen to that sort of music.

I'd give Girls a try, but they are on NME. My general rule is to avoid anything within the NME. The NME is the music magazine equivalent of The Sun newspaper.
Oh come on. NME magazine has turned me onto several artists that are pretty damn awesome, that I'd never have known about otherwise. Like my own suggestion for this thread.

Rose Elinor Dougall. Formerly a member of UK indie-pop girl band The Pipettes, Rose has recently gone solo, with a backing band known as The Distractions, in a similar vein as Marina and the Diamonds, or Florence and the Machine (or for a male example, Reverend and the Makers). Here's a couple of their videos from her Youtube page:

Of course, it doesn't hurt that as well as being an awesome singer, she's also amazing-looking ;)

Umm.. I'm sorry my musical taste isn't aligned with yours? I can see you're new here, so maybe you didn't get the memo on the way in. Usually people on the escapist respect each other's opinions rather than blatantly insulting their taste.

Ever heard of a 90s ska/punk/(kinda) hardcore band called Five Iron Frenzy? I don't blame you, they broke up 6 years ago, but man, they were awesome.
I actually ended up getting into Five Iron Frenzy recently :) nice choice.

Mine is Steve Conte and the Crazy Truth. The lead singer is pretty well known in the anime/NYC punk communities (and he plays guitar for another amazing band), but the group seems to be on the downlow.

My favorite little known band would have to be RF30 a little known band from New Hampshire. Only a tiny percentage of our states population has ever heard of them and anyone out of state... I would be amazed
