I consider my time with Minesweeper similar to that of a 3am booty call. You both know what you're after, you both know how to get to it, and ten minutes later you're both back to your normal routine.

Sure, Skyrim might be gorgeous, and Saints Row has a few interesting tricks to liven up the evening, but when I want something quick and easy I go feeling around for the 99 problem tiles.

Damnation

The dialogue was hilarious, the gameplay was incredibly fun, and it felt pretty damn cool to look down at the town you had just massacred from the top of an enormous smokestack.

Harvest Moon.

I don't understand why I LOVE farming (in game).
I be ninja'd!
And I think it's the music in the Harvest Moon games, it's too relaxing!

As for games that are popular/praised highly, any of the war shootery, brown soaked soldier things from the past five years, I'm bored just looking at the covers!

Transformers : War for Cybertron. I feel at peace when running through metal corridors of Cybertron chased by Omega Supreme.

And i don't like most multiplayer FPS games. I couldn't afford enough time and equipment to learn how to properly play them, and now i'm simply too old for that sh*t. :)

Guilty Pleasure: Madden NFL. I know, I know, sports games and such, but I just find it fun to stomp rival teams with my favorite team (since my fav. team is currently imploding... again)

Hated but everyone loved: Oblivion. Seriously, I found it to be incredibly boring. I've only met one other person who agrees with me.

Robot Unicorn Attack... Actually no, that's not a guilty pleasure, it's freaking awesome.
Maybe... probably Need For Speed Shift. A lot of people didn't like the physics but I thought it was cool as long as you stayed inside the car.

That second part, any Call of Duty games. MOHAA was way better than CoD MW2. For realsies, I love MOHAA.

Shadow The Hedgehog would have to be mine. I know a lot of people kept complaining about it being Sonic with guns, but that just added to the appeal for me.
This.

I had a lot of fun with this game, and never really noticed the flaws.
I remember dragging my best friend in to play multiplayer.
Got all the A's exept for one too. Good times.
I was very surprised to see it get under a four from ign. (I think, I saw the review years ago)

Another game I would say is a guilty pleasure is DrakenGard 2. I know it was grinding, button mashing and repetitive. But I loved it.

mine would have to be either Mirrors Edge, or Viva Pinata
I was thinking Viva Pinata, but i'm not guilty about that one.
Not even after I got all the achievements.

Good read through all the posts and no one mentionned mine.Alpha protocol. Seriously i really liked that game , even though everyone one riped it appart . Incidentally i liked it more than mass affect. I really felt that my actions had more weight in alpha protocol than mass effect . Although the game isn't perfect , it's insanely fun. It was the first game this generation i played two playedtroughs back to back on normal and hard mode ( usually i just start on hard mode , but since i knew nothing of this game i started on normal ). The stealth in that game is really fun , and combined with the pistole skill tree it is great . Truely and underated game .

Dark Messiah and Mirror's Edge.

Dark Messiah's story was awkwardly stiff and felt like it could easily take place over the course of a week, most of which passed by behind the scenes. Not exactly material that stands up to previous stories from the Might and Magic universe. It's also arguably the ugliest game on the Source engine. But I instantly fell in love with the gameplay and its fast-paced first person swordfights. Even today, several years later, I find myself replaying it now and again just because of that.

And Mirror's Edge because I'm right through a sucker for parkour.

I couldn't think of one until I read this.

So yeah... Guerilla. Extracting hostages by ramming an APC into someone's kitchen can be ridiculously fun.

A bunch of people mentioned Mirror's Edge, which I also really liked. Running for your life with bullets whistling past your head could get surprisingly intense. I liked that the gameplay made you feel like the underdog. Shame about the forced combat.

Any and all "Warriors" games. Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, DW Gundam, Orochi, even the Kessen games. I've played them all and will continue to, if only for the easy achievements.
Right there with you man. I just bought Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 actually, since it was only a tenner.

My guilty pleasure... Bejeweled. There's something awesome about turning my mind off and matching gems. I know it's meant for middle-aged housewives... and I don't care!

Um... a game I didn't enjoy, though highly rated, was Deus Ex. Too deep, too graphically clunky, and just too unfriendly for me. I'm a wimp.

The only one that comes to mind (too many games to think about) would be Blood Wake for Xbox.

Never heard about it when it came out, played it, loved it, then found out that a good number of reviews were negative. Not like that means anything though, really.

Also, a good number of people find that Dynasty Warriors falls into this "Guilty Pleasure" catagory, and I got to say: I played DW4, and I honestly thought it was pretty cool. I never bought another one afterwards, but my experience with that specific entry is a good one overall.

Anything made by Enix (Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean 2 come to mind specifically) before the merge with Squaresoft. Love their games.

Finally, with the way their fandom (and hatedom) grows and fluctuates, is it safe to say that liking Final Fantasy is a guilty pleasure now?
(It feels like it at this point.)

'Cause I'm still cool with them.

Blasting through Green Lantern:Rise of the Manhunters with a Friend on Co-op was actually some of the most fun I've had this console Generation.

The game is pathetically short, and has no replay value at all, but your first initial play through (especially on Co-op) is a blast.

Also, I prefer sonic when hes in 3D DUN DUN DDDDUUUUH. Sonic Adventure 1 and 2: Battle are two of my favourite games.
