I can't imagine anything being that great if you have to spend an eternity experiencing it. Heaven sounds like a great place, but damn, I don't want to spend an eternity there. I just don't have the willpower...

I'd like to think that Heaven mixes things up enough to keep it interesting. But you are right, eternity with anything is bound to suck eventually.

Hell, for me, would be nothing.

Blackness. Void. Nothing but myself, completely barren of life, light, or sound. I'd probably want to kill myself after the first hour.

That'd suck. It sounds like a bunch of near death experiences that druggies have had, when they've basically died and woken total blackness except they can kinda see movement in the distance, and when they went to touch their own face it went right through like a ghost. Then when they think to themselves "what the hell is going on?" a voice in their head tells them to shut up all demonically and stuff. I'm pretty that would be my hell, but it's so MAINSTREAM

An afterlife where I can see all of my friends/family having fun and doing stuff together, yet I cannot contact or talk to. Sort of like being Bruce Willis in the Sixth Sense. Except much worse. Think about it. You're aware that you are dead, destined for eternity to walk the earth through its population, but also be alone at the same time. That fucking scares me.

Or, worse, being in a coffin. There's no room, no light, and the only thing that you can hear is your voice screaming for help. Or perhaps there is a constant, uneven dripping that can just be heard, low but always present. It would drive me insane before 24 hours had passed.

Laying there, fully conscious, while everyone else around you thinks you're in a coma. You can hear everything everyone is saying, crying that they miss you, but your own body stares unfeelingly past them, as you silently try to scream and scream at them "I'm alive, for God's sake I'm alive! Help me!"

*Shudders*

You probably know this, but this actually happened to a guy. FOR 23 YEARS.

I cannot BELIEVE this sacsacreligios post. Athe is the completely unrelated stepdaughter of our one true nonexistant god, Athior, who didn't come to earth and did nothing for our relativistic morality. Neither one of which is as much as rumored to consume your nonexistant soul on account of Athior also being nonexistant.I'll just leave this digital watch underground complex pamphlet on your porch.

Seriously though, entertaining the notion, my vision of hell would probably consist of midgets cutting me open with rusty scalpels and putting heaping piles of soggy tissues into the cuts and sewing it back up. That pretty much covers all of my fears in life.

So you are one of those watered down New age Atheists? Athior was thrown in by jerks trying to make Atheism more commercially appealing. If Athe weren't the main deity, why would it be called Athe-theism?

My idea of hell is sitting on my throne sending out my demons and reapers to furfill their tasks while drinking out of the skull of the former ruler satan. After my drink I will play football as long as I'm not on Saddam's team everything is fine with me. After the football I will have fun with all the girls that have been naughty in their lifes. Before I go to bed I usually get on the phone with god and discuss the meaning of life and keeping him up to date on the events in hell.
Yeah, I think I could live with that.

I'm not really sure, I would say either pycological tourture, or physical tourture. Granted, the pycological tourture would really mess with your mind, but you would have a few moments before you go completly mad, so it isan't to effective for a "enternal punishment." So tourture by getting beaten may seem a little more effective, and you could be driven mad by the thought you will be stuck being beaten for ever.
