I don't really like going by the dollar per hour gameplay ratio. To me its just case by case.

I go by matnee price, so like 4-5 bucks for and hour and a half of play time.

so 60 dollar game has to give me close to 30 hours of fun.

£1->£2 an hour is what I mostly go for. As it's semi reasonable, in my opinion. But I'd glady pay £30^ for truly great short games.

I will be working in Pounds Sterling.

Generally speaking I will not spend more than £10 on any one game. Also, When I buy a game I want to still enjoy playing it years from now. Assuming that I play games for 20 hours per week, not all of that is "fun" time taking into account loading times and learning the game and overly hard boss fight and so on. Lets assume that 10 of those hours in a week are fun and I on average play one game for 3 months before I get temporarily bored of it. Here's my calculation:

(10x4)x3=120

Answer to your question is I expect 12 hours of fun for every Pound I spend on a game.

£1 for every 3 hours preferably, so about 33p per hour.

Which means I generally expect about 90 hours of gameplay out of a £30 game. Anything less and I feel like I've been ripped off.
do I see a hint of sarcasm from my reply ;)
Nope. I'm serious. As a long time consumer of RPGs, if I'm not getting a good 90+ hours out of a AAA title I buy new from the shops, I'm disappointed.

And when I get better deals than 33p/hour (I bought TF2 for something like £2.50 on sale, so I'd only have to play it for around 8 hours to get my moneys worth - 32.2 hours so far (~8p/hour!)) I'm a very happy camper. I've sunk 160 hours into Mass Effect 2 and I paid...£30 I think for that.

That's what I like to see. 19p/hour for that game :3
While I don't know the exact translation into Dollars because I'm a cocky American who doesn't pay attention to the rest of the world( :p ), that's probably similar to what my Oblivion amount is. I've spent 1047 hours in Oblivion and I paid $30 for it. Hah. It's 2am and I just finished studying for an exam, so I'm not doing the Math now, lol.

all i ccan say is, holy shit, your time on oblivion outdoes like me on 11 games, jesus christ

Is one-on-one too much to ask? I've gotten way better ratios out of almost all of my favorite games because I keep replaying them. If a 15-hour game is so much fun that I play it four times, it's pretty much the same as a mediocre 60-hour game that I only play once. Better, even. An engaging multiplayer mode can also add a lot of hours to a game's lifespan.

I refuse to pay full price for a game that only lasts 15 hours and doesn't have any significant replay value.

For me the longer the better, as long as the gameplay can keep me going for the majority of it.
It changes for each game really :p

For a cheap downloaded game i expect maybe $1 for 3-4 hours including replays. Then for a larger retail game $1 per hour or 2 would be ideal.

I will outright refuse to buy a game I have to work longer for then I have fun playing it (So with minimum fuck-all wage of 5.21 It needs to be at least 10hours long)

I also refuse to buy games that are 1) Short 2)Not on discount (special titles excepted like Valve and Bioware)

Go steam deals.

I think it depends on the game genre, if its an RPG it should be like 3 to 1 but for a action game it would seem more like 6 or 7 to 1

Ideally, approaching zero: the number of hours should become large enough that we're into fractions of a cent. Good job, Morrowind on that one. That's the standard one should seek to approach. Call this the Elder Scrolls approach.

Games with great multiplayer are attempting this a different way that I entirely approve of. Make the online good enough and I don't mind faults in single player. I think of this as the Modern Warfare (1 or 2, take your pick) approach.

Good is about $3, and acceptable is $5-$6. At about $6 you've hit the upper costs in terms of $/hr of a movie.

I've gotten about 20 cents to the hour on most games.

So a Dollar for every five hours of gameplay.

I like 1 hour to £1.

Almost every new release costs about £40, so RPGs do that easily.

Sad thing is, I almost did. At that point I had found a map of every location and was visiting them one by one. But I can't remember why I stopped. It's been probably two years since I stopped playing, so I've forgotten a lot of it. Honestly, I only played with the difficulty about a quarter of the way up, so I was able to take on most anything. Tips from me don't amount to much, lol.
