What is your lastest buyers remourse and is it justified?

OK, so here I am having just purchased a small render farm (2 pooters) with one having a videocard so that I can lug that tiny thing around instead of my workstation however this has had the side effect of making me feel a tremendous amount of buyers remourse. I know I had the money for it and actually need it however that does little to ebb said remourse.

So what is giving you your buyers remourse these days and is it justified?


P.S. The last thread about this was waaaaay back in July. I feel that enough time has gone by.

I can't think of my last because I think a long time before I make a purchase these days.

It was not always so, as a child I would buy, buy, buy.

Probably my biggest buyers remorse EVER, was Pokemon Battle Stadium. I bought this when I was a child, like maybe age 12-14, I can't remember. It was around $100 CAN and I pretty much hated it by the second day. It was SOOOO boring! I was such a stupid fucking kid.

WHY DID I BUY THAT POKEMON STADIUM TOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crysis 1 from the steam sale. I still can't get the thing to work. It seems the internet can only fix my problem if I am a 64 bit windows 7 computer. Those 5 dollars could have been spent on candy or maybe bubblewrap.

I bought a drum from this.. for lack of a more PC word "eastern" fair in town. For £50.

When I got it home, I tried to play it, but when I got closer, it smelled really bad.

Apparently the guy wasn't lying when he said it was made from "real camel skin".

Now I'm too grossed out by the smell to use it.... :/

Such a big mistake. Felt like such an idiot, too, as I almost always check these things. Forget one time and get the wrong thing.

I bought a large pack of pens, and it turns out some of them were blue and red, and I refuse to write in anything other than black. Also I bought some cheap mechanical pencils recently that really suck. But both of those total under $8 so I'm not too concerned.

Most of my major purchases I tend to research a fair bit, so it always winds up being the little things that bite me.

Got bored with it after 2 weeks, then they announced Ultimate a couple months later.
All consumers who bought the vanilla game get 0 compensation.

The day Capcom became dead to me. Goooooood times.

OT: For me it would be buying into Mechwarrior Online, the devs really dont know what the concept of balance is.

I guess I am just so good at it I do not notice. I will admit the devs have been going back and forth with the effectiveness of each weapon and electronic system like a mutherphucker and that has resulted in a combination of optimal builds and untouched weapons due to the uselessness of double (1.4 triple space) heatsinks. Thing is I cannot fault you for not liking it. It requires someone with an already strong investment in the series and I have personally hollered down the ear canals of the developers to no avail pointing out issues with the game that have not yet been resolved. Many of which will and HAVE turned off new players to an amazing degree.

This is exacerbated by the old Table Top players who insist on exclusive TT rules and personally threaten and insult the devs when they deviate from said rules which almost in no way exist to date, and a devil may care attitude to any young whippersnapper who wants to play a modernised version of an outdated gameplay style. Mixing and matching rules from two separate turn-based-table-top-games while converting it all to real-time the devs have screwed up something fierce.

While I can enjoy myself playing the game I cannot fault you for not.

Massive disappointment.
Otherwise haven't really regretted buying anything, more just general "Meh" towards it as I got it on sale, didn't enjoy it too much, but still got enough hours out of it for it to be considered worthwhile.

A 1000 dollar cintiq 21ux drawing tablet (included 2 year warranty). I definitely got a good deal on it, but that's still a lot of money to casually spend on something I didn't exactly need. I haven't even received it yet, but I'm hoping the purchase proves itself to be justified. Either way, I still cringe when I see that chunk missing from my bank account.

Buying Max Payne 3 garnered some remorse. I had a budget of twenty bucks and I choose that one because I loved the first game so much. What followed was 13 rage inducing hours as I yelled at my computer screen. No quick save feature, ridiculous difficulity, terribile plot, and a godawful characterization of the titular characer. I finished the game knowing I am would never play it again. I know $20 bucks was a lot, but it was during very broad Steam sale. There was a lot other great games I could of picked up instead.

The most recent two happened within the same week: Guild Wars 2 Digital Collector's Edition and Endless Space.

I had planned on getting Guild Wars 2 for a while but the regular digital edition was sold out on green man gaming, so I decided what the hell, and bought the collector's edition because with the coupon it'd be cheaper than the cost of the regular edition's normal price. I think after a day the regular edition was available again and I spent an hour going "why?!"

Endless Space was also an impulse buy at the end of the Steam autumn sale. I dug the aesthetic and thought I'd enjoy since I liked playing Total War and XCOM. As it turns out, I don't very much like 4x games, and to make things worse, the following weekend was free weekend for Endless Space, so I could've had the chance to try it and decide I didn't like it without spending $17 on the admiral edition.

I was enjoying the game until the last few patches myself, and I am massively invested in the series, I have every novel and source book on my shelf, a number of the ark age minis (though none off the standard tabletop minis, I have megamek for that :3) and I even have those old toys from the 80s from the TV series xD, so I threw my money down for Legendary Founder status

But it really does seem like they throw darts at a dartboard to come up with their balancing decisions, and the ECM introduction finally pushed it over the edge. I can now just get my fills of battletech from MW:LL and Megamek until they roll out the next round of balancing patches to make things a lil less insane.

I have a very neat build that I think you might like. 2xAC2+2xAC5 Cataphract combo. I call it SHAKEnBAKE. The dual AC2 with 300 rounds produce little heat and keep the poor sap on the other end shaking like an epileptic stoner when the dual AC5 with 180 rounds of ammo bake the deal... Meh, poor recycling of a joke.

most of what i buy is comics, games, and fast food. so if i buy something out of that group i usually feel buyers remorse. (and i always feel buyers remorse over fast food, but not enough to not get it)
