What is your mantra to get you through the day?

After reading replies to my last topic 'What are you escaping from?', it seemed as though a lot of fellow Escapists are struggling to be happy, successful and to get where they want to be.

Do any of you have sayings, mantras, quotes or whatever else that gets you by?

'Such if life' is definitely a favourite of mine, as cliche as that may be.

I came up with "such is life and life is such" because I am incredibly creative and original.

Mostly I just rip stuff out of songs I like that are relevant to my situation. "This isn't giving up, this is letting go" has helped me get over a girl recently, for instance.

Generally I don't need a motto, I just remember the good people in my life. There are always good people. Always.

My mantra is usually "OK, what's wrong, and how can I fix it?" I'm very sensitive to blood sugar levels, hormones, tiredness, etc. If I can get whatever's plaguing me to go away, then I can do what I need to do.

It's plastered all over my wall, my shirt and my calendars:

And yet sometimes, it just doesn't work.

"Everything and anything is inevitable."

Sometimes the easiest way to deal with hard days, is to just accept that they are just as likely to happen as good. So the more bad things that happen to you, the better chance you have of the good ones happening in the future and the more good things that happen means the more prepared you will be for when the bad finally come. Well. . .that and if you spend all your time focusing on the bad, you far to often don't leave any room to focus on the good.

Edit. And of course the greatest advice ever given. . ."DON'T PANIC" in large, friendly letters.

"If you feel sad, get happy, there are people who are doing worse in the world, so I should be grateful with what I have".

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

Its an excerpt from "Desiderata", something i read whenever i feel the stress of the world cannot get any worse.

Ah! Someone else that reads Desiderata. That poem really speaks to you on a personal level, doesn't it?

Indeed it does. My mother used to recite it to me when i was young. It has a lot to do with the kind of person i ended up becoming. Far from perfect, but always striving for the higher ideals in life. It is a beautiful piece of writing.

I listen to or read this one whenever I kind of start to question where I'm going in life. It's kind of long, and I got it from a commercial, but it works for me.

"Look me in the eye, its ok if you're scared. So am I. But we're scared for different reasons. I'm scared of what I won't become and you're scared of what I could become. Look at me. I won't let myself end where I started. I wont let myself finish where I began. I know what is within me even if you can't see it yet. Look me in the eyes. I have something more important than courage. I have patience. I will become what I know I am."

Pretty much this.

Seriously, most days I sleep until 2-3PM.
Not quite what I meant. Mine only goes until I get out of bed, regardless of when that is (early or late), the rest of the day takes care of itself. My 'mantra' is really just giving me the first push.

"Det är ett liv av glädje och ett liv av tårar, ett liv som tröstar och ett liv som sårar, men glöm ej där ibland: Lyckans fågel fenix!" I got it from the Swedish translation of the classic MAD parody of the old Batman show with Adam West and Burt Ward. It was meant to sound corny, but if you ask me it's pretty comforting.

"Action before motivation."

If you know what needs to be done, do it and don't wait until you "feel" like doing it.
