So fellow escapists, what is your passion in life? It can be anything, from having a passion for gaming to having a passion for, I don't know, let's say, air. Obviously some of us may have more than one passion in life but what is the one that stands above the others?

For me it's martial arts. I've been doing martial arts for about 9 years and as I'm only 20 I hope to keep it going for many, many years to come. It's more than just a hobby, to me it's a way of life (cliché and cheesy line but deal with it).
It's taught me many things in life, kept me healthy, has gave me more confidence and now I help out in teaching the next generation of kids and it's a funny feeling teaching the young'uns as it doesn't seem long ago I was their age looking up to the black belts who were teaching me.

Pole dance/pole art.

I think about it every single day, study the world champions in every aspect, I yap about it constantly. Every time I hear a song I think "Would this be cool to choreograph?"

I've been at this for seven months now and I'm advancing quickly. I can do things now that I never in a million years imagined I would, and I've only scratched the surface. I'm more aware of my body and both its strengths and limitations than ever before, and I am seriously making national competitions am ambition. Maybe in two years or so, I could apply.

It also basically stomped out my massive depression of 2011-2012.

Birdwatching.

I only got into it last year when I noticed the birds in my garden were more interesting than I had previously thought. A few years ago the birds were just birds, some were blue some were black, the really dull ones were brown. Then I noticed a couple of jays and some parakeets were stopping by and they were just different enough to stand out and grab my attention. Now I am enamoured by all of my garden visitors, I've learned all their bird calls, I know what time of year to look out for what type of bird. I get very very excited whenever there's a new bird in the garden, and I even bought a pair of binoculars.

I have books on birds, I specifically visit different parts of the country to see different types of birds, I've started following twitchers on Twitter (heh) and I'm contemplating buying myself a really spiffy camera to take some photos.

I have a lot of interests and hobbies, but birdwatching is definitely the thing I get most excited about.

Can I put that in pink letters. I'll have a light pink thank you. Just like my 3DS XL.
There is no more simple or potent of joy in life.

This is what the inside of my happy place looks like. And what my happy place looks like. And what my purest dreams look like. And..

It is my mission in life to make the external world I look at look like my internal world. Which means ignoring most of the world and playing video games and watching ponies. Hooray!

I am a little girl trapped in an adult's body. Why can't I be a little girl?

Drums.
I'm not great at it, but I enjoy it almost obsessively and can't stop myself from patting on my legs rhythmicly or tapping on anything near me so it must be my thing.

Anything that'll give me a rush. Right now the major one is skydiving, though rock climbing, scuba diving and adventure racing are other things I do to get my fix too.

I'm twenty years old, and I just discovered my own passion: acting.

Really regretting not getting into this activity that I both love and I'm naturally good at sooner.

You know, at this moment, nothing.

If sorta been half-heartedly trying to find something to occupy my spare time and I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to be starting on a rather spartan lifestyle for a while and aiming to constantly improve myself physically. So, lots of gym work again, much better diet and going to try and work on my mentality alongside it as well.

Considering everyone on here can probably say video games (after all, that's why we're all on this site) I'm going to skip that one, and say that my passion is shooting.

I've been shooting since I was 13 (I'm currently 22), and I completely love it. I've been completely hooked on it ever since the first time my dad took me to shoot, it's been a way to bond with him, and it's really one of the big ways my dad taught me personal responsibility.

These days actually a lot of my life revolves around shooting and firearms. I recently got certified as a crime scene investigator, and specialize in firearm identification, and spend a lot of my time learning about new firearms and ammunition. I go shooting all the time, and have even taught a lot of my friends how to shoot as well, because I think it's an important life skill to know. I work out because it helps me when I shoot in competition. I go running and do cardio training because it helps my heart-rate recover faster, and allows me to shoot more accurately after running, and I do weight lifting because it helps me manage recoil better.

All in all it's been a very positive thing in my life, and I would say that shooting for me is similar to what practicing a martial art is to other people (and coincidentally I'd really like to start learning a martial art in the near future).

I've been a LEGO fan my entire life, and have no plans to change that. With 359 sets in my collection, and a minifig population of 858, my collection has its own room in my house. According to Brickset [http://www.brickset.com], I have spent approximately US$8400 on it over my lifetime.

I think my LEGO keeps me young. It helps me relax, stimulates my imagination and creativity, and gives me a place of zen where I can unwind whenever anything has got me down.

Creation and to some extent entomology.
If it involves making something, I've done it and have some amount of skill for it.
Writing, drawing, composing, acting and what have you.

The entomology bit stems from me being very much an outdoor child.
Bugs were interesting and I was comparable to a miniature explorer. Setting off into various environments without any knowledge of what I would discover. I find them a tad more creepy these days for some reason, though I think it's because I can appreciate what they're capable of much more and being far less exposed to them on a daily basis than I once was (I wind down indoors instead of out these days).

Regardless, I have a maintained a container with live specimens that I look after. My own private ecosystem left in a state of constant (near?) perfection. My favorite critters to own are Earthworms and Isopods, neither of which are actually insects. Just humble decomposers that contently do away with a portion of my refuse.

I do this too... but down the pub! The weird thing was, it took me a little while, whilst reading your post, that you were actually talking about the feathered variety!

On a note, however, my family has always has a British bird guide in the kitchen window overlooking the garden since as long as I can remember... and we keep an eye out for new birds too... but we arn't as passionate about it due to the fact we live in the middle of a town and we have a dog! We do put feeders and nesting boxes about to hopefully see them! The most interesting one I saw was a Jay in the garden... that was pretty neat. It was damn huge!
I also now live on a military base in Buckinghamshire, and used to live in Oxfordshire and those areas are full, and I mean FULL, of Red Kites... And they are stunning birds!

OT: My passion is whatever I can geek out on/obsess with... but it comes in waves. I will become passionate on a subject as long as I need to be, and then I tend to move on... For instance, recent passions have been PS1/2 games, Surface to Air Missile launchers (This one is ongoing), My mate who was back from Germany on leave and Lego Star Wars models...

Mathematics. Whenever a challenge arises that involves maths, I'm always happy, even if it's something relatively simple. I love sitting with a page of numbers and functions and working my magic with them. :)

My passion is the English language. I don't know why, but as a foreign speaker I've been obsessed with the language ever since 7th grade, and endeavour to consume absolutely everything from my preferred genres of entertainment in English - books, TV, movies, games, whatever. Naturally, it's a part of my university studies as well, but even long before I started my studies I've basically started thinking and dreaming in English, and it's now gotten to the point I find myself hard-pressed to converse in my mother tongue as eloquently as in the foreign one.

There are a couple of passions in my life.

First and longest running is computers. I love keeping up to date with the PC industry and just learning about all sorts of software, hardware, history and innovations. I can build a PC in my sleep. I just got paid $300 to set up a pre-built PC along with some networking stuff for my old boss. Work that is second nature to me and I do at home for fun.

Second I am a craft beer and homebrew fanatic. One of the earliest memories as a small child I have is making homebrew with my dad. He eventually gave it up as he didn't have the time and could afford to buy beer. Not long after I turned 18 I discovered glorious craft beer. This led me to the decision that I wanted to give homebrewing a try. I have been brewing for a few years now and still make beer on a regular basis. The latest brew is a brown ale which I will be bottling in about a week. I will then get started on an imperial russian stout. 10.5% ABV and so dark it makes Guinness look like a Steinlager.
