Make other people happy and make yourself happy. Too bad that's really hard to do these days.

I'm a catholic who believes we can all work together to help our fellow man towards some sort of goal. I am liberal on topics and conservative on others. I am a man of options, just having the option, now matter how useless it is, is what I want from things in life. I also feel the need to try and get SOME, even the slightest bit of humor into a situation.

I believe in experiencing as much as possible.

I personally feel that the reason we exist is so that our souls can experience as much as possible, over an infinite number of reincarnations. Possibly so that the universe can experience itself through us, or possibly for some sort of ultimate goal of which I am unaware.

And I'm not just talking pleasurable experiences here. All experiences, good and bad, are important.

So yeah... that's me, living as much life as I can.

My thoughts can mostly be summed up as "don't be a dick" and "don't be fucking stupid". If everyone followed those rules lots more people would be happy.

For some more personal beliefs, I am an Atheist, a very liberal person, and still quite young and foolish but mature enough to realize my immaturity.

Respect should not be given freely, but instead earned.

This applies to everyone for me. Pisses my parents off to no end.
You earned my respect, frie-forum member. Why does it piss your parents off though?

Basically, mine is very simple:
"Live life like a candle, stay bright, stay a light, and stay illuminating others days, until you are whisked away into the night."
Yeah, I just came up with that in under a minute, and I think it sounds good.
Look, as long as your having fun, brightening others and staying alive as long as you can to continue to do these things, then you lived a damn good life.

Also, soon we may be able to reverse age, I can't wait for the day of augmentations, we may be getting metal bones soon too.

I'm stealing this from the web comic Surviving the World, "If you can't make fun of it, it's probably not worth taking seriously."

I find this applies to most things in life, obviously there are a few exceptions.

Well, when I say it applies to everyone? That includes my parents as well. And while my mom has done plenty to earn my respect, my dad has done jack-all and still expects me to respect him. Which I do not. Which pisses him off, and my mother as well.

I treat others with the respect and manners that they deserve, unless I have a good reason to do otherwise.Everybody gets a second chance, after that give as good as you get and to hell with them.

As for the existence of any other sentient races in the universe, I believe there are most definitely others out there, but that the chances of any two meeting are so minute that every race that has existed before us and those that have yet to be will eventually come to the conclusion that they are the sole inhabitants of this world.

The world will keep on turning. I hear people saying how the world's gone to shit, and I don't believe it. I believe the news says the worlds gone to shit. I believe that when the plague was going around it was a worse time than a natural disaster every so oftern, and we got through that without issue. I believe that when the british came and slaughtered native americans it was a worse time (at least for the natives) and we've gotten through that. I believe that the world will keep on turning. Because no matter how hard life has gotten on this rock the world has kept on turning, and telling me all the shit that's going down will not stop it.

Not until the sun decides to expand and destroy it, anyways.

baptist for religion. science is something i hold to be true in most cases, but some things are still debatable. Social- i do believe in acting according to the situation, not "being nice" or "being mean" But changing to to situation. But of course some things don't change unless of a certain situation... it feels like i should say more, but i can't think of anything. Also for being baptist i do need to say we have some people who honestly are giving us a bad name and swear up and down they are right. >.< Also we have but one life to this right, But i don't see the wrong in following someone promise of eternal life. (you know beside that following him literally means that people will hate us, and we have to do our best to follow his standards)
lastly live life don't be held back because of fear. I say go to the face of fear and with every inch of your scared body do it whatever "IT" may be, just get up and do it. Even when that feeling of your entire body screams, pushes, fight your heart starts to pump your blood either boils or ice down fight it and say one of these (for theist) "Lord what i'm about to do is really stupid, but you got my back as long as i have courage." (atheist) "I'm going to stop thinking, and ignore every feeling for i know what i got to do."

My belief is that one person cannot hold a belief... For beliefs are supposed to be questioned. Philosophy 1A.

?I can believe that things are true and I can believe things that aren?t true and I can believe things where nobody knows if they?re true or not. I can believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny and Marilyn Monroe and the Beatles and Elvis and Mister Ed. Listen ? I believe that people are perfectible, that knowledge is infinite, that the world is run by secret banking cartels and is visited by aliens on a regular basis, nice ones that look like wrinkledy lemurs and bad ones who mutilate cattle and want our water and our women. I believe that the future sucks and I believe that future rocks and I believe that one day White Buffalo Woman is going to come back and kick everyone?s ass. I believe that all men are just overgrown boys with deep problems communicating and that the decline in good sex in America is coincident with the decline in drive-in movie theaters from state to state. I believe that all politicians are unprincipled crooks and I still believe that they are better than the alternative. I believe that California is going to sink into the sea when the big one comes, while Florida is going to dissolve into madness and alligators and toxic waste. I believe that antibacterial soap is destroying our resistance to dirt and disease so that one day we?ll all be wiped out by the common cold like the Martians in War of the Worlds. I believe that the greatest poets of the last century were Edith Sitwell and Don Marquis, that jade is dried dragon sperm, and that thousands of years ago in a former life I was a one-armed Siberian shaman. I believe that mankind?s destiny lies in the stars. I believe that candy really did taste better when I was a kid, that it?s aerodynamically impossible for a bumblebee to fly, that light is a wave and a particle, that there?s a cat in a box somewhere who?s alive and dead at the same time (although if they don?t ever open the box to feed it it?ll eventually just be two different kinds of dead), and that there are stars in the universe billions of years older than the universe itself. I believe in a personal god who cares about me and worries and oversees everything I do. I believe in an impersonal god who set the universe in motion and went off to hang with her girlfriends and doesn?t even know that I?m alive. I believe in an empty and godless universe of casual chaos, background noise, and sheer blind luck. I believe that anyone who says that sex is overrated just hasn?t done it properly. I believe that anyone claims to know what?s going on will lie about the little things too. I believe in absolute honesty and sensible social lies. I believe in a woman?s right to choose, a baby?s right to live, that while all human life is sacred there?s nothing wrong with the death penalty if you can trust the legal system implicitly, and that no one but a moron would ever trust the legal system. I believe life is a game, that life is a cruel joke, and that life is what happens when you?re alive and that you might as well lie back and enjoy it.? - Samantha Black Crow, American Gods by Neil Gaiman

This kinda sums it up neatly.
I thoroughly enjoyed that... I really have to get around to reading that.
Thanks!

-ps, I agree pretty much wholeheartedly.

Treat people like you want to be treated.

To me that means to treat people as equals. Give those around me the proper respect and trust they deserve until which time I have personal reason not to. Be open minded and willing to listen to peoples thoughts and ideas, rather than solely focused on my own.

Also, take time out of everyday to spend on yourself, and never resort to violence under any circumstance for any reason.

I'm a rather odd guy actually, I think I've read too many epic fantasy good guy books, but I'm a bit of a cross being chivalry and not giving a fuck about most people/things. No, I have no idea how they mesh, if I was to split it, I'd say it's 75/25 in favor of not caring.

Personal:
-I respect myself. I smoke and drink in moderation, I eat properly, and I make time to exercise at least a few minutes a day.
-I put an effort into my appearance because I feel that I owe it to myself and those around me.
-I hold myself to a very strict set of personal guidelines. I don't raise my hand in anger. I offer my help whenever I'm able. I'm courteous women, whether they like it or not (I'd rather beg forgiveness for a kindness than go through my day knowing I let slip the chance to do the right thing). I never take what I haven't earned. I make all agreements in good faith and will follow through to the end.
-I listen to everything. There is truth to be found everywhere, even, and especially, in lies.

Political:
-Pro-property rights Libertarian.

Economic:
-Lassies-fair Capitalism

Religion:
-Roman Catholic
-I don't force my beliefs on others and expect as such in return. I'm happy to answer any questions regarding my faith and I enjoy hearing about the beliefs and perspectives of others. Life is learning.

My views?

Politically, I?d describe myself as a right-leaning libertarian, with constitutionalist and objectivist sympathies. I view gun rights as one of the most important issues now a days.

Religiously, I?m a non-denominational Christian. I believe that the family unit is very important in society, and should be upheld.

I believe that:
You should live like you are the only one able to do what you do.
You should learn to laugh at yourself.
If something is trying to hurt you then make it work for every ounce of pain it inflicts and even harder for every bit you show.
You shouldn't let an inevitability like death bother you.
You shouldn't worry about what happens after you die, the real world needs you right now.
If you are happy with your life right now then why care about what people think.
The only gaze you should shy away from is the one in the mirror.

Ka- It's basically karma + a code of honor all mixed into one. The original concept is from Steven King's Dark Tower trilogy.

PS: I'm wearing a Ka shirt right now, so maybe that's an easy out.
