What puts your town on the map?

I live in Richland, Washington (fuck you, Huskies, COUGARS RULE!), and we are known for the hanford site, which participated in the manhatten project in WWII, and we are also known for the spudnut shop.

I live in Geelong, Australia, and in our country we're probably best known for our football team, the Geelong Cats, who have won the AFL premiership 2 out of the last 3 years. They're absolutely awesome!

My town (un)officially developed lowfat milk, and John Hays (like Sec of State I think) came from here. That's about it.

Actually, we're known for our shade tobacco.

Shade tobacco's used in the outermost wrapper of a cigar, and something about where my town is located makes it the best in the world, they're even used in Cuban Cigars

I live in Port Moody, its called the city of the arts, so i guess it's known for art.(also for being the original terminus for the CPR)

For the metropolitan area that Port Moody is a suburb of... the 2010 olympics among other things.
