I own a PC and an Xbox 360 (my third), but these days the 360 is mostly used for DVDs and the odd game where I can't get a PC version. As to what type of gamer I am I don't know. I like many different genres from shooters to role-playing, from racing games to strategy so I don't really fit into a category. My most recently played games are FEAR 2, Dragon Age: Origins (went for another run through with all the DLC after I got the Ultimate version), Supreme Commander 2 and Starcraft 2. The last two are part of a conscious decision to get to grips with the RTS genre which I have overlooked for many years.
I am a solo gamer and have no time for competitive multiplayer or the like, preferring to immerse myself in other worlds where there is no chance of anything so base as 'reality' rearing it's ugly head, good narrative and characterisation is also important. If I had to express a preference for a general theme in gaming it would be science-fiction or what some prefer to call speculative fiction since the science part rarely makes much of an appearance (or much sense, come to that) in most game fiction.
I rarely play at anything above normal difficulty except if I find a game I really gel with like Mass Effect, indeed I turn it down in strategy games because I'm just so crap at them. Actually, that is getting better. I won my first game on medium difficulty the other day in Supreme Commander 2, and please nobody tell me how easy that game is, I know it is. It's embarrassing.

I'm a PS gamer; started on the NES/SNES, moved to the PC for a bit (played AoE2 and Fallout like a pro). Then I went to the PS, then PS2 for a looong time. Then I got a good gaming PC, played that for a bit, primarily stayed on my PS2. Got a PSP and PS3 and priomarily switch between the three, and playing PS1 games on the PS3. I like my 3rd Person Shooters, my RTS, my Combat Racers, and most importantly, my Turn Based Strategies and my JRPG's. Work on my NIS Collection right now, some of which is US/JP only, so blarg -_- why is Mana Khemia available here and not the 2nd?

PC. Amateur competitive FPS gamer (Played for the fifth best Battlefield 2 infantry team in the world, woot), now retired/inactive. No good FPS games lately, team has been largely dissolved, so I've moved to "metagamer" (sort of like the equivalent of the D&D "chaotic neutral" in my approach to games: "How can I exploit every single loophole/imbalance to the fullest?").

I don't give a good god damn about story in my games. Chess doesn't have cutscenes.

Hardcore Nintendo fanboy, that's me, though I don't have any opposition to casual gamers.
No starting wars? Aww. But I have to give my opinion on the definition of "casual": Informal, relaxed.
As a (former) competitive gamer (tournaments, arranged private matches, ladders, etc.), about 99% of all "gamers" (however you choose to define that) are "casual". What I mean is that they don't play in organized and formal events. To me, "hardcore" is about devotion (Im "hardcore" FPS (and somewhat RTS) gamer, as in I hardly play anything else), which means it's perfectly possible to be "hardcore" and "casual" at the same time.

To me, it seems more logical to do the community division in three: Casual, Amateur, and Professional. Analogy: The people who played football (soccer, for you US'ers) in the schoolyard (casual), those who joined the local team and trained for matches (amateur), and those who made a career in it (professional). The "hardcore" ones are the ones in the schoolyard who played each and every day, as opposed to every now and then.

This post is long enough already. Bedtime.

I have an Xbox 360, PS3 which I use for gaming. I am planning to get a gaming PC in the future though.

I mostly play FPS's or RPG's, but I like a wide variety of games from Heavy Rain, to F.E.A.R to Viva Piñata. The genre's I dislike are TBS's and JRPG's, although I do like Civilisation Revolution so there can be exceptions if they are good enough and fit my style.

My favourite game would have to be Fallout 3, and my favourite series Call of Duty. I think I am a casual gamer online, I don't play competitively I just like to relax really and have fun, that's my main goal when playing online. Singleplayer? I am an achievement hunter, or at least I used to be. I tend to just like to play the games now but sometimes I just can't help myself...

The reason I don't play games on the PC is because it can't handle ANY games... except one!
Minecraft!
And I do enjoy that game very much, don't play it as much now as I did when I first got it but sometimes it is good for relaxing, having fun building random crap and getting a few cheap scares.

Games I am playing right now are the Mass Effect series, Dead Space (getting ready for Dead Space 2) and Fallout: New Vegas. Debating whether to get Dead Rising 2, not sure whether it is worth the money...

hmmm, just noticed my post is so long no one will read it... oh well.

I'll pretty much play anything as long as it's good. I used to dislike horror and adventure games, but I'm starting to really like some specific ones. I use my PC the most, sometimes I play my PS3 and rarely use my Wii.

I really like RPGs (except for the Elder Scrolls series, could never get into them) the most though, although I tend to avoid JRPGs.

I just play anything that appeals to me. So far I only own A PS2 & PS3. And I play some PC games. Hopefully I might get a 360 this year depending on my budget.

Most of my gaming is Minecraft, so that answers that question.

After that is my 360, and sometimes my PS3 or PSP. I just picked up Heavy Rain because I hear it's an interesting game.

PC and Xbox. Though definitely more PC than xbox. If I can get it on PC, I'll go that route than get it for the xbox.

Depends on the game.

Mostly PC though, I prefer to play RPG games on PC because it's easier to manouver(particularly ones like Dragon Age and Fallout 3 with huge inventories and stuff). But games like Katamari, CoD and such are better for consoles, in my opinion.

I play pretty much any game I get my grubby little mits on!

I don't have a particular preference, though I LOATHE Sports and Racing games in general.

I have hundreds of different games at the ready to try to satisfy my ever changing and growing appetite.

Xbox and the DS. I mostly play pokemon on my DS and on the xbox i spend my days playing FPS and RPGs online. But i'm happy to play the occasional fighting game. Mainly Soul calibur. In terms of RPGs i love oblivion, fallout and pokemon as i mentioned earlier. And FPS games i enjoy are bioshock, L4D and team fortress 2. I became i big fan of valve after my friend introduced me to L4D, although i still haven't finsihed half life, i haven't even had the motivation to move on to episode 1. Great game though.

lately ive been playing really old games that i found amazing. because the games of today are just so incredibly un-unique, and un-immersive. not to mention the fact that they tend to raise my blood plessure at every point possible. i also never play online unless im wit with my friends. so pretty much i like games that i find genrally fun, i.e. arnt difficult, but test your brain, like stratergy games, or at least games that make you think. Although for some reason i hate FPS games, and alternitvley, love 3rd person games, althoug it may just be a coincidence. Also lately ive been downloading emulators for pokemon and final fantasy 1-6, and my favourite games are metal gear solid, and dragon quest. (although im sometimes ashames to admit it)

Well, I'm... old I guess.

My first computer was a BBC Acorn. It had an external 5 1/4" floppy drive, a tape deck and 32kb of raging power! My favourite game was elite. Sooo high tech!

I also grew up in the arcades and playing the Atari. Since then I've just evolved along side the game media. Now I have a PC, a PS3 and a Wii... If I HAD to give one up, it'd probably have to be the Wii.

Big fan of playing sudoku on my phone, too.

I love my PS3 and 360, but I lean towards my PS3 for it's way more reliable hardware. That isn't to say I dislike Microsoft. As for older consoles; I go back and play my PS1 and my N64 all of the time.

As for games, I love stealth games and I love JRPGs. Fighting games are awesome and I'm partial to anything Valve puts out. I like a lot of stuff but that are my main interests.
