So I was playing bejewled on my computer and was chatting with someone at the same time. He asked me what I was up to and I told him what I was playing. He said that he liked causal games more often "hard core games" and it got me thinking. What kind of games do I play? Do I play load of minigames or do I play intense story mode games? So what do you classify your games as? I think of my games as a little bit of both. They have minigames in them but also a huge story line in them.

Games that make you think, and not like puzzle games. I mean games that challenge your mind and make you question your actions and motivations. Games like Bioshock or Red Dead Redemption that deal with clashing Ideologies such as the capitalist idea throughout Bioshock. I like my games how I like my books, Having a lot of deeper meaning.

Tis not to say I don't like mind numbingly stupid games to play with no mental benefits whatsoever, Looking at you Halo, Its fine cause I still love you.

I really don't have narrow tastes. I guess in general they have a stronger singleplayer focus, but I love my TF2 and my BC2 as much as I love my HL2 or my Max Payne. I love diablo and torchlight and arcanum, age of empires, rise of nations, civilisation, the total war series. I love plants v zombies and I've played my share of warcraft. (both world of and its RTS predecessor.) I love portal and World of Goo and Recettear and Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I love Shining Force and I love Final Fantasy 8.

Those are the kind of games I like. :)

Look at your games. Now look at mine. Now back to your games. Now BACK to MINE. Sadly, your games are not mine, but if you embraced simulation and grand strategy gaming they could play like mine. Look down. Now back up. I'm on a boat. That boat is sailing the Baltic and North Seas trading merchant goods around the Hanseatic League. Anything is possible when you smell like a gamer and play simulation games. I'm on a horse.

RPGs: WRPGS, JRPG, MMORPGS....nothing like a good RPG. I find the cliches and stories in JRPG predictable and silly, but I love the combat system.

Sometimes I'll dabble in other things, like an RTS or a shooter but, in the end they leave me unsatisfied and wanting to play an RPG.

Damn you for making me laugh while I got this cough. It hurts my throat, but damn it I want to keep laughing.

OT: Racing, RPG, FPS, platformers, some RTS, and so on. But, if it's fun, I'll play it, regardless of whether it's "casual" or "hardcore".

I don't know really. Rather then what types of games I'm into, I usually just go with what I'm currently playing.

Fun Games? its more of my personnel type of fun which involves a plot that at least tries with the good game play that i cant stop playing. like today when i was playing Chibi robo park patrol, i found it fun that it had something of a plot and i just cant stop growing flowers and re modeling the park.

hahahaha....

That's amazing.

On topic.. Genre-wise, I play everything, but I don't care for online Multiplayer. I don't have a gold subscription.. I love FPS's though, and anything with a good enough story to keep me engaged. But I like everything.. I rarely play a game that I don't like, and if I do, it's usually a single aspect of the game that turns me off, rather then a symptom of its genre. (except maybe JRPGs.. I was a huge fan of JRPGs as a kid, when they were the "Good RPGs", and now that western RPG developers have basically caught up, I find most JRPGs insipid)

I like RPGs and i've really been digging xbox live arcade games. I hate racing and sports games with a passion. I mean i cant go out my back door and slay a dragon, but i can kick a ball around, and if i go back home i can drive my car really fast and dodge deer (i lived in a rural area.

Um... er...

*settles on something*

Sci-fi. So long as it's the space opera kind. If it doesn't have pretty spaceships, futuristic guns, cool aliens and interesting new non-Earth places to visit, it's generally not for me. Quite niche, I know, but I wish there could be more of them. Nowadays, the fad is REALISM, and generally games are set in the modern era or some other relatively recent historical conflict, which I find boring.

Seriously, out of the following, tell me which ones look cooler - these:

Or these:

For me, the last three will always be the best. Nothing beats SPESS.
