I'm going to start by saying I did a forum search of this one and all I came up with is something about 'illegal pets' so I figured it fair game. If there already is one, then it's probably waaaaay back... so sorry in advance if I missed it.

That said--

I was just wondering what kind of pets you guys have had and maybe what variety of pet you like best.

I'm a big pet person. I've had birds, cats, fish, dogs, a rabbit, and a few mice. My parents had a chinchilla before I was born, but apparently he got out and fried himself on a lamp cord D=

I have to say that mice and rats are pretty nice pets because they're relatively clean and quite and they're generally good tempered little creatures (unless you let them go feral by not playing with them... but that can be said about any pet really).

So... thoughts?

I've had 4 dogs, and now I have no dogs. I've got bad luck, but not as bad as Ginnipe.

2 have been put to sleep due to aggressive tendencies (they were shelter dogs), and gave up the other 2 because they were too damn hyper and we found that out too late.

Ferrets: Best. Pet. Ever.

Got rats at the moment, and looking at getting myself one of those deliciously ugly devon cats later this year.

Rats are a little bit on the smelly side and like peeing on you when you're handling them, but they're sweet pets.

I've had a dog, two cats, a fish, snails, a hamster, and these little rodents called degus [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Degu].

the dog was given away, don't know what happened to her, probably dead, been about 8 or so years since we gave her away. One of my cats died of old age and the other still lives. My mom killed the fish and snails because she was sick of them being alive. The degu is a surprisingly territorial rodent and one killed the other and then we gave the live one away.

I always had a cat. My first was a senile old *****, my new one is a retarded kitten with extra toes, a short tail, has a taste for my blood (I think she wants to kill me!) and always has to walk with her little asshole hanging out!

I have three maine coons, and two cockatiels. My family has always had pets though- snakes, toads, frogs, fish(freshwater and saltwater), tons of dogs, and lots of birds.

Three cats and a dog. The dog complains about having cancer nowadays. I feel bad for him, but he is being really annoying.

I've got 4 guppies. Crichton (from Farscape), Jhonka (A Homestar Runner reference), Sunny (cause he is yellow) and Flash (named after the Flash). Frodo died a few months back.

I love my cat, shes fuzzy and soft, and also missing an ear. She adopted my house after a 4 day snowstorm so I have no idea what breed she is. Plus she hates everyone else but me, so thats a plus. Too bad I cant take her to college though.
EDIT: I also have a dog, shes a hyperactive yellow lab who does isometrics. Shes more the family pet though.
