This is weird, because just last night one of my dreams was entirely in German, and I understood every word; mind you I only know a small bit of German.

I speak English as my first language, and speak Japanese and Spanish very poorly. That said, I dream in Japanese often, and my mom's told me that when she used to wake me for school I would occasionally spout something in Spanish.
I don't know why it is, but I'd say I dream in Japanese about 20% of the time, English 60% of the time, and the other 20% is silent/pure visuals.

Besides, when he visits my dreams, he doesn't say anything. He just stares, staring with vast uncaring eyes upon a pathetic species doomed to suffer it's end as his hundreds of tentacles writhe in anticipation of his surely soon to start feast, hehe, hahaha, AHAAAAHAAAHAAA!!!

I dream and think in both English and French, back and forth. Right now, coming back to France after years spent in North America, I still think in English mostly and dream in English mostly. Sometimes I even start speaking English and then need to correct myself.
When I first moved to North America it was the other way around.
Sometimes I don't realise something is one language rather than the other. Most notably I've been known to try and translate something for people in the same language it was already written (and not using the same words).
Counting remains simpler in French though, and spelling too, although they're both getting close to being even.
After some time here in France I'm sure there will be some kind of switch, unless I keep spending my time on English speaking places such as here
