L1: English
L2: Japanese
I'm relatively fluent in Japanese. Spent a year in the damn country with the express purpose to gain conversational competency.
I've done a semester of Korean as well, so I can speak basic bit and pieces. Although, I'm sure I'd be able to pick it up again and get to at least a point of conversational fluency if I worked on it a bit more.
Dutch is another one I'm working on, only know bits and pieces, but I'll get their eventually. It's an odd language to try and learn, I know, and I think I myself have forgotten my motivation, but it'd be nice to be able to understand some of the football news feeds I get.
I've decided I want to be competent in using 5 languages by the time I'm 40. I've got plenty of time, so I think I could get to a point of being able to have a chat in that many languages in 17 years.
