English, three years of Spanish, and some broken Japanese. Unlike my friends who pretend to know Japanese, I admit that I can't speak it well.
Is he one of those idiots who learns Japanese off of Google translate?
Either that or trying to learn random words off of subbed anime.

Is that last one a Russian dialect?

I only speak English. I speak broken Japanese, enough to holiday without a translator and manage to buy items, enquire (apparently "inquire" in the states?) about their price, ask for and receive directions and discuss time (date, day of the week, time in hours and minuites etc.), and I can introduce myself, say I'm Australian, talk about my family etc. I can also - I think this is the most important bit - is explain that I don't speak Japanese well and don't understand.

But like I said, it's broken. My sentence structure is weird and I'm one of those tourists who says things back to front.

"I want buy this now! What cost?"

Edit:

Just English. Trying to learn French in secret for my wife. It's going very slowly because learning a new language is tricky when you're dyslexic.
edit: Wife is from France. Hence the French.
at least you've got advantages! depending on which part of France she's from:

1- Excellent Culture
2- Excellent Food
3- Excellent humorists to discover
4- Excellent Bandes Déssinées aka Comics
5- Excellent movies

etc

English, some bits and pieces of German (I could probably speak to a 5-10 year old but not much else) and like 20 words of Spanish.

Fluent in English. I learned Spanish as a kid in school for 8 years, (can read it, not so much speak it), learned German for four years in High School, and am currently learning Japanese, and am doing MUCH better with Japanese in two years than I did with German in four.

I'm working very hard to become fluent in Japanese.

I speak English, Norwegian, High School-level (awful) German and have been studying Japanese for about half a year.

Noticing a trend in this thread.

I'm not sure I speak any languages, english included. I just cut and paste whatever google translate gives me. Certainly I have a profound difficulty turning thoughts into words, so much so that I dread actually enacting my ambition to learn french. From thoughts, to poor english, into what must only be awful french. They'll hate me. :p

I speak English, several common Elvish languages, some Dwarven and finally a little bit of Damin'ah (Dragon Tongue).

I find a lot of them come in quite useful, the Damin'ah is pretty uncommon anywhere that isn't an arcane university but it comes in handy when picking up college Elf chicks.

EDIT: I just realised how nerdy this actually sounds. I would like it on record that I am not a 40 year old fat guy with food stains down his top and living in the parents attic, I'm 16 skinny and living in his parent's house.

English and Serbian. I knew some German, but through neglect I forgot it. Might start taking it again though...
