What makes everyone think the Joker dies in arkham city?

I think it's because the game borrows elements from some comic, where the joker gets poisoned with something (i.e massive titan intake) and is given only 6 months to live.
It's comics... no one really dies.

Ledger did a great job, but Mark Hamill will always be the definitive Joker for me. Seeing as how this is going to be the last time he provides the voice, it is the "death" of the character for me in a way.
