Good, bad, right, wrong, morals, values, fair, unfair(and many others I can't think of right now)are all subjective, they differ from person to person.
The fact that all of you have different view points on the matter and this topic exists is proof that these are subjective, you're all never going to come a consensus because you all believe something different from each other.
To me there is no "good" or "bad", what's good and bad is what has been instilled in us from birth by our parents by society, these are what's "good" and "bad" in societys' eyes. Simply speaking there is no "good" or "bad", it is whatever you as a person make it out to, but "good" and "bad" have no value, we only give them value and worth when they are nothing but words.

Death: ?...take the universe and grind it down to the finest powder and sieve it through the finest sieve, and then show me one atom of justice, one molecule of mercy, and yet- (Death waved a hand.) and yet you act as if there is some ideal order in the world, as if there is some? Some rightness in the universe by which it may be judged.?

It's romantic to think of "good" and "evil" but the subjectivity of such articles of thought make them easy to subvert.
If you are going to be dualistic try out "selfishness" vs "selflessness". However don't consider one good and the other bad. If you without enough selfishness you do not eat, without selflessness the rest of society doesn't get to. Again, this is simplified.

This discussion reminds me of the ego vs superego. Why is it a "super"ego? If you conform to the morality deemed correct by society then you are commended or accepted by society which will feed your body and mind (and therefore your ego).

Moo of the seven said:
The first two really. Why do you look at Hitler and say he was evil, and look at Gandhi and say he was a saint?
there's an episode of penn & teller bullshit that is about saints and such, it's pretty neat

as an earlier poster said there's no good or evil just varying shades of grey cause there's some things that could be considered evil but are actually good, killing of a child is one, sure it's wrong HOWEVER if the child is dying with no chance of living or being saved and you kill them to end their suffering is that really an evil act or is it an act of mercy and good?

Oh god not this again.

This topic has been done and redone so many times it's just not funny. I have yet to meet someone that (A) has a brain, and (B) doesn't believe in the supernatural, who won't concede that good and evil are laughable concepts. It really does not take much thought to figure it out.
