What do do you think makes a person a gamer? What does not make someone a gamer?

Playing games makes you a game player or gamer. However, there is this weird perception in the world that lumps everybody who's ever gamed in the world as socially-inept nerd-folk and total geeks, meaning that the world gave birth to yet another stereotype by way of the usual short-sightedness.

So, I have said what I believe is the truth and I have said how other people might see it. I think that pretty much sums everything up.

Or maybe it just means you play games a lot. But I like to think I did all that for a reason.

It's a strange concept to me. Playing games makes someone a gamer? Does watching movies make someone a movier?

I'd define a gamer as someone who plays video games and has a keen interest in them. Like the equivalent of a movie buff.

What makes someone a gamer? Someone whom plays video games.

I actually classify it in the same manner that I classify a figure skater(example). The person in question is a figure skater, because they figure skate. When they are not currently figure skating, does that mean they are no longer a figure skater? So it's a bit fuzzy, but then, what isn't. It works though.

a gamer is somebody that plays games but there are different categories of gamers

hardcore gamers: play games as a hobby rather than to kill time
casual gamers: play games to fill free time
competative gamers: play games to compete
etc. etc.
