Someone who 1) Has not learned the ways of the game and 2) Makes no effort to learn them, even when people go out of their way to help them.

Now, as that's the difference between a noob and a newb (the former being someone who is learning the game, the latter being someone who is not), there is no "what makes the biggest" answer.

But that shows that they've got M3D 31337 skills!

I'd say the biggest noobs are the ones who constantly ***** about other noobs. The real gamers are the ones who shut up and play, and can take a joke.

People, who for some obscure reason that has yet to be explained to me, who go into a game and don't move for the entire game. Also, people who scream like a ten year old into the headset.

[sub]Then again, most of them are 10 years old.[/sub]

People who use it as a derogatory term for anyone new to a game. It comes from the world "newb", short for newbie, which originally just meant someone new to a game, inexperienced but not necessarily bad.

Although now different spellings of the word seem to have taken on different meanings, with newb still reflecting the previously mentioned definition, and noob meaning a complete idiot, unwilling to listen to advice and helpful suggestions.

Huh. I always thought of it being the other way around, with newb being short for newbie.

Anyway, in my opinion, a noob is the kind of player who doesn't know how to play, doesn't want to know how to play, and doesn't care about the reactions from the other players.

A newb, on the other hand, is a new player. He'll ask questions about the game, and make mistakes in team-based games, but genuinely wants to play the game well, and is just trying to get some help at the start.

Newbie: Is eager to learn, wants to know the reason, looks for advice, doesn't know the ropes, is new to the game, is often overtly polite.
Noob: Doesn't know how to play, and doesn't care to. Believes he's actually better than anyone else. If he asks for help, he'll follow blindly without questioning. Is more interested in getting gold (or XP, or whatever) than playing.

People who can't move.

Instead of shooting the other team look out at the unreachable parts of maps and endlessly jump at a bush or pile of tables/chairs (or other common path blocking device) thinking they will make it over.

People who run around looking at the sky.

Someone who sucks at a game, thinks they're absolutely bloody amazing (and therefore doesn't try to get better), teamkills if someone annoys them, and makes no attempt to be a team player.

Noobs are the biggest Noobs silly!

Anyway people who join games especially team based ones without doing the slightest bit of research and then spamming chat channels asking stupidly basic questions that if they had made the effort would know the answer to.

Are you a Halo player, per chance?

Just wondering. I have encountered all the above behaviour in Halo and have yet to see it in CoD or any other online game.
