Bitching when you lose, or hacking. Simple.

Oh sorry, I meant using silencer and UAV Jammer, noobynaut, or double tap on the P90. That's what I meant...

Someone who sucks at a game, thinks they're absolutely bloody amazing (and therefore doesn't try to get better), teamkills if someone annoys them, and makes no attempt to be a team player.
Are you a Halo player, per chance?
No, actually. Why?
Just wondering. I have encountered all the above behaviour in Halo and have yet to see it in CoD or any other online game.
Try playing online in Battlefield: Bad Company. There aren't many, but when one spawns in joins your squad makes it incredibly frustrating.

Well, there's probably 4 or 5 different definitions for the word "noob".

Someone who is new to the game, someone who uses overpowered guns/perks, someone who isn't good at the game, someone who doesn't know what they're doing. Kinda depends on how you want to look at it.

People who beg for money. I mean come on, we know your not poor because you are subscribed to an mmo that initially cost $60 plus expansions. I have never once, not once, felt the need to beg for money. I made my first gold piece in World of Warcraft ever selling copper bars, not bugging higher level players.

Do what everyone else does; start a trade, farm some monsters, just get a bloody job you damn noob hippies!

Newbie: Is eager to learn, wants to know the reason, looks for advice, doesn't know the ropes, is new to the game, is often overtly polite.
Noob: Doesn't know how to play, and doesn't care to. Believes he's actually better than anyone else. If he asks for help, he'll follow blindly without questioning. Is more interested in getting gold (or XP, or whatever) than playing.
These. Are. Good. Definitions.
Noob is used more as a derogatory term these days, while Newb is a friendly way of calling someone new.

to the first post, newbie, noob, newb, nub, nooblet, n00blet. I think that sums up the variations of that word. haha thanks wikipedia!
My friends made up 'newb-nugget'. It sounds hilarious and cute when you put it into context.

-"You're such a noob-nugget!"
+"A what??" :O

noobs are easy to spot since they tend to be the loudest, most obnoxious person in any given game, for example, I was playing S4 yesterday, went into a chaser match, the chaser manages to kill everyone, nobody complains except one guy who immediately shouts "SPRAY NOOB! WTF!!!!"

this particular individual continues to do this every time he's killed until he becomes the chaser and kills 2 out of 11 people in 2 minutes... fail.

For the "just learning the game" type, that would be asking "how do I <do this thing that is clearly explained in the manual, menu, or tutorial>".

For the "have been playing the game for a while" types: ranting about "haxorz" or "cheating" when losing a fair fight. Bragging about winning a completely one-sided fight.

Some one aggressive, un-supporting, loud, and inexperienced, mixed with pride and all around rudeness. They type of person who doesn't know how to play, and won't learn. Oh yeah, and starts a flame war when you help them out.

The noob aka the scrub:

http://www.sirlin.net/ptw-book/intermediates-guide.html

IMO, it's someone who doesn't play to win and complains constantly when they get beaten time and again by very simple tactics. Rather than trying to better themselves, they complain that you're using "cheesy tactics" and would try and restrict the way you play instead of trying to learn the actual game.
